Opti disappointment

I am actually pissed off. My bird has been running rough in the rain, misfired in large puddles, had a high rpm miss and was developing a random hard to start in the morning kinda deal.
I cleaned up the stock coil, and new coil wire due to corrosion on the tip, replaced the opti and front seals over the past weekend.
The car is no longer missing at high rpms (clean coil). I finally got around to taking the opti apart and guess what?.........clean as a freaking whistle, had the delphi-gm part number inside of it (was told the opti was original) no corrosion, very little carbon tracking on the nippels, no oil on the inside on the optics section. Its smothered in oil on the outside due to bad seals, had been leaked on by the water pump by a failure 10,000 miles ago and showered again when I changed the WP.
I guess all in all I have a little more respect for the dreaded lil opti from hear on out.
My new opti is from thepartsladi and is a delphi unit and I hope to get 150,000 miles out of this one as well......hahahahaha

Nope. Looked allmost like new. The rotor arm had normal wear on the tip and there was some build up on the points.
I've had some nasty optis on other cars and friends cars that I've worked on. All my missing issues was the coil and coil wire due to corrosion.

Also, you got to remember the coil wire fires 8x as many times as the other wires so it needs more frequent replacement.
