fuel pump pigtail

i was installing my new 12 bolt today and i had planned on replacing the pump while the rear end was out. i got a walbro 255 pum from a freind and it did not come with a new electrical conector and the stock conector is much smaller than the conector on the new pump. where can i get the pigtail for the walbro pump?

Try going here: http://www.racetronix.com/

There is a link on that page to E-mail Racetronix. I would contact them.

That pump is not as plug & play as you might think plus it does not include many parts which require replacement given the age of these cars. Remember you get what you pay for...

The old dry factory rubber ring does not provide a good seal. We supply a new seal system. Much of the factory in-tank wiring is rotted and the terminals corroded. We supply an upgraded Teflon harness which does not rely on the old factory wiring. We supply these items along with a new flex-tube, updated push-lock fitting, bucket sealant/glue. We supply a new 30 micron filter sock to replace the old factory 70 micron filter sock. A proper 30 micron sock is required by Walbro. $149.99 vs. $115.90 = $34.09. When you add it all up there is more that $34.09 in added value here.

Available from CZ28.com supporting vendors:

Agreed, the Racetronics kit is one of the best available as it comes with all the needed parts and full instructions. In addition, the upgraded plug-n-play wiring harness should be considered as well, as it helps to supply full battery voltage to the new fuel pump.

i have nothing against the ractronix kit it looks to be a very good kit. i just thought i would let cost cosiderate people know where they could get a working kit a little cheaper. my kit came with wiring, a new flex tube, a fule pump sock (not shure what micron), fuel pump o-ring (non factory style, bought factor o-ring for 5.99). so the only extra added value in your kit would be the factoy o-ring $5.99 and the glue, under $5.00which equals $10.99. like i said i got the same thing acomplished for less $$. i someone does not want to worry about finding an o-ring or glue your kit is the way to go. but if someone is willing to do a little leg work of there own the ape kit will save a little $$

You failed to recognize the parts we replace / upgrade.

Your kit probably came with an in-line adapter or leads so you would still be relying on the old factory wiring. Much of the factory in-tank wiring is corroded. A search of this forum will also show that there is a common problem with the wiring be burnt and the connectors melted due to long-term arcing. We supply ALL NEW upgraded in-tank wiring.

Your flex tube does not have a new push-lock fitting on it. Chances are the ID is not compatible with the pre-existing connector either.
We supply a proper sized flex-tube with new push-lock adapter and SS Oetiker clamps.

The filter sock's rating is critical to the reliability of the pump. Walbro specifies 30 micron or better. The old Nylon mesh factory sock is 70 micron (no good). Apx. value $7.50

Your kit relies on the old rubber ring on the bottom of the pump which is usually hard and dry from sitting in gas for many years. If it does not seal properly the pump can suck in unfiltered fuel or prevent the bucket from functioning properly. We machine the bottom of the pump and install a new o-ring for good seal.

Everything comes pre-assembled with instructions ready to go.

Sarcasm is not required. Just making sure people reading this thread actually know what they are getting. Many people do not bother to educate themselves about the options available. That is why we get a constant flow of e-mail from people asking us to sell them pieces from our kit after they have pulled apart their senders. Sure you can take a chance on saving a few $ but in the bigger scheme of things what do you really save? But then again there are those that will go to great lengths to save enough coinage for a McHappy meal and a six pack.

Yep, I was one of those people that didn't need a pump but needed some of the internal sending unit wiring pieces. You sent me an email and said that the only way to get the pieces I needed was to buy the whole kit. I guess the internal pieces would not make a big enough profit for you. It really turned me off to your business. When it came time to buy injectors I bought them elsewhere.

K, you got you jab in….

Sorry you feel that way. We can understand to a certain degree why. Perhaps most of your misdirected frustration was with the vendor who sold you the pump kit and led you to believe it would be complete with everything you would possibly need?

At this time we do not sell or support certain piece parts to be used with non-Racetronix product. This is mostly a liability and support decision.

Hopefully our web ad and posts will help educate potential customers to the differences between our product and others so that they can avoid the disappointment / shortcomings associated with your purchase.
