dtc 41 no start

hello all-have a 96 camaro with a pcm for less obd 1 conversion. been working fine for 4-5 years. returning from a short trip the other day-it sputtered and missed. 15-20k on the gmpp opti in the car now. i live in tennesee and it sits a bit outside. very humid here. after it sputtered, got home and shut her off-no start. pulled codes=got a 41. ran the whole dtc 41 gm trouble tree for 1995 and can not find a fault. substituted my obd 2 pcm and got the related code for 1996-dtc1351. and all seems fine. substituted good known parts for coil and module. i ordered an opti. will the opti cause this code? any ideas?

This is from the book, never actually saw this problem... Did you actually put a volt meter on the white wire going to PCM connector 'B5' at the PCM end to insure it is not going above 4.6 Volts during cranking. The DTC 41 and DTC 1351 both say the voltage at the PCM exceeded 4.6 volts when engine RPM is below 1500 (or cranking) . The white wire goes to the ICM pin 'B' and it should be holding the voltage down below 4.6V. A bad +12 volts at ICM pin 'A' or bad ground at ICM pin 'C' could also cause the failure (also a bad coil that you already changed) The black wire ground goes to the stud on the front of the left (drivers) head. Make sure the black wire terminal is good (should also be two wires going to PCM, and a braided wire to the chassis) on the stud. Hard to see how a bad opti could cause this, but sometimes the books are not always correct. Here is a schematic from shoebox. http://shbox.com/1/1996_ec_03_ign_system.jpg

hello-i layed (didnt bolt it up, just used it for a "fake" rpm signal)the new opti on the front of the motor, plugged it into the harness and ran a ground lead between the chassis and the opti. turned the ignition on and spun the new opti by hand. had spark at the spark tester for a second, heard the injectors pulsing, heard the air pump cycle, then it went away. that made me do the wiggle test at the icm and the coil. all it was, was one bad connection from the harness to the coil. bad connection by one bad lead in the pigtail connector. ordered me a new pigtail off ebay. im glad its fixed. i guess i will hold on to this new opti till i need it.
