Ysi Remotly streetable?

Looking at what I want to do down the road for SC.. I'm used to Roots stuff, don't know much about vortech.. How streetable, or un-streetable is a YSI? or is T-trim the way to go... could you say drive 400 miles on a ysi without worrying about things breaking down?

It'll be okay on the street. I know a few people who run Ysi trims and F1s on the street no problem. I actually plan on running a Ysi trim myself when it becomes time to do a rebuild. Just be carefull when in boost. Things can get real hairy real quick!

its borderline streetable, i drove mine on the street all the time, but it eats cog belts, and needs a 12 rib if you go with a standard belt. its a big blower to spin and kinda made the car a turd down low, but up top it was wicked.

if youre looking for a fast street car, get a t-trim an spin the hell out of it, or else go turbo

Depends on your opinion of "streetable". I know of others that also drive the F1A/R and Ysi cars on the street, and it can be done, even possibly as a DD. HOWEVER, keep in mind that these blowers are pretty much meant from either ATI or Vortec to be full race blowers, so with the extra power, you're most likely going to run into more maintenance items than if you just did a T-trim or a D1SC (D-1 equivalent).

Both the T-trim and the D1SC with the right setup can put down 16+#'s of boost, and make 700+ RWHP (quite more than you can use traction wise on the street).

Going with the F1R, or Ysi you'll be a good 100+ RWHP over that. Now I know we're all speed/boost freaks on here, but at some point most of us will sacrifice power for driveability and reliability. Your question is really going to be up to you, and what you are willing to sacrifice for the added power.

my opinion on streetable is to be able to drive it on the freeway for extended periods of time, and be stuck in traffic without fear of over heating... might not be the most comfortable of choices to drive everyday but if you had to.. you could...my old setup (in my sig) was not streetable... you could hear the car from over a mile away.. i couldn't drive it around without setting off 100 car alarms, it drove on the free way fine... @ 3500 rpms for like 55 mph, and when sitting in the drivers seat I couldn't see anything on the right front of the car cause of the blower...

My goal for my current setup is...
a high 10 to low 11 second car, that I can drive on the street ie cruise from mammoth to sd over rare weekend (ie 400 miles) or drive to work once in a while with the exception of increased maintenance but not it crapping out and dying on me because I "blew other head gasket" or whatever ticks we are willing to put up with in a trailer queen... Nitrous would be a good route for me..but I'd much prefer to have power under the pedal not just when floored @ squeezing... I'd go with a t-trim without a second doubt but for whatever reason i've seen alot more used y-trims for sale at a much more reasonable price then the t-trims i've seen online... I also don't mind under driving the crap out of it, and then switching pullies @ the track.

You would have to define streetable. After my build I want to drive my car to California, beat the crap out of it, and drive it home. Like 5,000 miles.

I would like to make 400-500 RWHP on a low boost tune, and 700+ on a race gas tune. Pull over 20 MPG on the highway and have no rattles or weird noises.

It may be a pipe dream, but that is still my goal.

These have been my goals since I owned the car, and I have been thinking of selling it because I doubt they will ever happen.

What he said and I don't have problems with belt slip anymore due to a larger blower pulley.

>this maybe off topic, but will you have to fabricate your own brackets for the YSi? I know the T-trim uses the same as S-trim.
