x02 60mm wastegate problem..

Bought a kit off Jon (RealQuick) alongggggg time ago, and now finally have the car driving. It seems I am way over boosting though.

I was told I had the gate setup wrong. I have the compressor side of the turbo running to the top nipple of the WG.

I was told to run the line to the side of the wastegate.. but I don't see any nipple there??

Any help would be appreciated before I blow this thing up!

EDIT: After taking the WG apart and investigating, its obvious I need a nipple on the lower portion of the gate. Does anyone know where I can find one? Theres just a screw there atm.

You need to apply boost to the side of the diaphragm opposite the spring. Boost pressure is what fights the spring and allows regulation.

Can you remove the one from the top and put it on the side? The top is open to atmosphere anyway.

I'd take the screw blocking the port down to Home Depot or Lowes (if the two ports arent the same thread) - they should have a thread guide in the hardware and/or plumbing section that'll tell you what thread it is, and then if you can't find one there (or at your local auto parts store) just order an 1/8" barb with the appropriate thread from summit. Easy as pie.

I'd recommend a nipple on the second port (and orient it pointing down) but giving it filtered air isn't 100% critical. Just don't plumb it to the intake manifold or any of the intercooler piping.

The side port of the wastegate is a diff size then the top and its at a very weird angle.. think it needs a special nipple. anyone know if x02 is a replica of another gate?

I don't know if its a replica - but give em a call, they should be able to tell you what the thread is.

Thanks man. After looking at it, looks like I can maybe get a small nipple in if I take the rest of the gate apart. I'll give them a call to make things easier

Looks like I can make it work. Just had to take the whole gate apart! I'll be posting dyno #s soon ;D
