I loved this system from the first time I saw it several months ago.Iam interested in doing this to my 98 TA conv.I have a couple questions though, with the turbo your car is only running a 12.90? It looks like your 60 foot is pretty bad so Iam guessing you need some sticky tires? Is this availible in a kit form or is it all home built? I currently have the 98 TA and I have had a 89 Turbo TA for several years running 12.20's with very few mods, would like to get the 98 in that range with a system something like this. Please fill me in on as much as you can, your car/ the install looks f%cking sweet!
Thanks
Matt

5 psi on an ls1 from a turbo will achieve that 12.2 with traction.

112MPH with good traction is enough to pull low 12's, and if thats not enough crank the boost up a few pounds and run 11's. I think they said from 5psi to 8psi they picked up almost 100hp, including their methanol injection kit and the decreased intake charge temperature.

RareTA, thanks. The STS kit comes with everything you need, and can be put on in a day or less. I used a lift when i installed mine which helped alot, and i had a test kit so some things had to be gone over.

magius231, i agree the car has low 12's in it. But right now i am looking at the MPH, because i havent had the time or money (rear end) to work on my 60's. I almost have the methanol/boost controller setup finished. I have taken my time with the wiring and mounting of the system. It is a quality system, you can adjust boost levels, turn on levels, jets, and it works sequentially off the ECU.

I'd be very cautious about installing a remote turbo system like that. I can see some major problems one of which is it's susceptability to damage. Not only because it's so low to the ground but damage due to weather. Consider what can happen to a HOT turbocharger when cold road water is splashed on it. Plus mud or dirt can be problematic and really mess with proper operation of the wastegate. I can see migraine headaches after long term use of such a system....

I would agree on being cautious, but it would take some major road debris to damage the system. I guess it also depends on road conditions. Here in South Florida i am usually on decent roads, but i do watch for large potholes and such. I have gone through downpours and puddles, driving at low rpms like always in bad weather, and have had no problems. I dont see going through enough dirt or mud to give the wastegate a problem, exhaust exiting the housing would seem to clear out anything by the valve. The hot turbo and water thing i think was already gone over on the deleted thread. Anyways the turbo doesnt get as hot rear mounted, and as i understand Rick talked to the engineers at Garett and they didnt see it to be a problem.

check this out if want to see some hot turbos in the rear

HOLY CRAP!!!! thats the best example ive ever seen of turbos getting red hot!!! the sts turbo uses the same exhaust temps your muffler would so it doesnt get red hot as it would if it were up front. hey if garret, the engineers of the turbo, says its fine back there then there fine in my books.

as far as debris goes, your rear end is likely to take more debris than the turbo would since its behind the rear, and I've never heard of anyones rear breaking off due to hitting something (I'm sure its happened though). If your that worried about it you could always put a quick sheet metal cover, similar to the ones on GN's over the thing.

Ya, if you go to their website they are pretty thorough on the ins and outs of their system, including the water on the turbo. The whole system is tuned to be the way it is and it has some great advantages over having the turbo under the hood.I like the whole thing except the return oil pump stuation and the price:~) The price seems pretty high for what you get, not performance wise but parts wise.I know your paying for developement too. Hey Luke, your MPH does look pretty good, when I first saw the vid of your car I was thinking LS1 not LT1.Get some tires on that thing and let us know what you can do with the basic setup at 5lbs!
Thanks!
Matt

Luke I am in the west-palm area every weekend and I am thinking of getting rid of my Supercharger and I would love to meet you sometime so that I can check out the system on your car in person ... and maybe get a ride from you ... send me a private message and I will give you my number etc if you are interested to meet.

also quick question I run shorty mac headers on my car (check out my web sight to see which ones)
Is there room enough to still keep the headers with this system or do i have to re route the intake tube?

Thanks,
Jim

With 5 psi of boost your only runny 12.9 at 112???

I have a 97 m6 camaro, with LT headers and a stiff autocross suspension, and i run 12.91 @ 111 with a 2.1 60 foot???

I was think about getting the STS setup, but the dont seem like they would help me that much
