Re: When building a blower motor.....
I'm in the process of getting things together to do a 355 blower motor. I just purchased a set of bare AFR LT4 210cc heads. I am going with the Eagle forged rotating assembly. They have a good deal if you check their site. I'm going to go 4 bolt splayed on mine, just to be safe. I don't think that it is absolutley necessary but I would rather be safe, especially with a blower motor. I have seen many discussions about 4 bolt mains and many people say that you would be hard pressed to find a motor that let loose because of only being a 2 bolt block, and I would agree. A buddy of mine just finished his 355 blower car and it only has a 2 bolt block. The motor was not built right last time around and the motor absolutely went. You could see where the main caps were moving around and lifted the studded heads but they did not let go. That was even with the stock crank that he just put back in the new motor. I think that you would be fine with a 2 bolt but if you are like me and are paranoid and always think of the worst, then go 4 bolt. BTW the vette 4 bolt blocks are not splayed, so they are not as strong. I would rather have an LT1 bock with 4 bolt splayed, that's what I'm going to do.

I also had my 2 bolt converted to a straight 4 bolt...
there are arguments and opinion for each...i personally like the straight better cuz i was able to use studs on all 4 bolts, like highlanded said, there more "meat" in that part of the block etc...
