Easiest way to not make it difficult, a supercharger uses a belt and a turbocharger uses exhaust gas to create boost.

awesome, that makes things more clear. so...... these two set-ups, do they run about the same price on average? or is one much more costly?

Depends on MANY MANY factors. My turbo setup was cheaper.... but I built it all myself.

Generally turbo kits are a bit more expensive if you buy everything outright new.

Then there are cases of people getting a steal on a supercharger used, and all you have to do is bolt it up.

jsetzer sized it up about right...both choices are NOT an inexpensive route to go, but you can save a lot if you are willing to do the work yourself.

well there is almost no way around that just doing a supercharger kit is cheaper....

but my turbo kit was said and done for about 5k and i bought everything new.

i dunno.. it can be argued either way. But there are more parts to a turbo setup so generaly it is going to cost you more. PLus there really aint a lot of room under the hood of these cars.
