What's a BRAND NEW D-1SC head unit worth??
What's a BRAND NEW D-1SC head unit worth??
Just like the title says. What's the value of an untouched, never even had oil in it D-1SC head unit???
Reason I ask is because I may, depending on what I can get for the aforementioned head unit, step straight to an F1.

Actually, the primary reason for considering the step up is that I'm just not sure the D-1SC is going to do what I want. The internal step up ratio is 4.10 with a max impeller speed of 62000 RPM, which we see you maxing at 6500 RPM. The F-1A however (it's the one confirmed model on the LT1 I've found so far) has a 5.40 step up with a 74000 RPM impeller limit. This would allow me more boost faster while keeping the same RPM band, and that's with using larger pulleys too which would combat slippage potential.
Seeing your car and how it made 14.5 lbs at the top end leads me to believe I'm NOT going to see the boost I want considering that my motor is going to have a bit better VE than yours. So my conclusion is to step up the blower head unit instead of risk over speeding the D-1SC. BUT........looks like the F-1x will require the deletion of the ABS solenoid block, and I'm not sure I want to go that route given it's a full street car and the wife will be enjoying it's usage from time to time.
Naw, just finally found out why your car felt slow.

Bah... The wife has her TOYota, and you will have the comfort of the Vette soon. Yank that ABS, and prepare to hang on for dear life!
Yeah, but the Vette is the vette, it's Not the F-Body (I actually like driving the F-Body a little better I think). I just would like to keep the ABS Functional.
Here's my question -- How are guys getting 18-20# of boost out of the D-1SC's without overspeeding the impellers??? That's my big question right now.

The biggest reason people can't make boost is inneficient piping! Both the intake side of the blower and the output to include the IC. if you want 20#s out of a D1 run pipe direct from blower to the TB and run alky in place of the IC I gaurante you will pick up at least 4#s. Or spend big dollars on custom piping and custom intercooler. The kits you buy are for street cars not race cars so they are very inneficeint. Crappy heads have an effect to but not near as much as what people think. Jeff
