What's a blower?

Aright, we got a debate on the line right now. If I were to say blower, would you think forced induction(turbo/super), or would you think supercharger? Basically, could you call your turbocharged motor a blown motor, or is only a supercharged motor a blown motor? Explain...

Typically, when describing a turbocharged application people usually dont reference it as a being blown. On the other hand when someone or people see a superchargered motor it is often seen as being blown because of the charachteristics of the a supercharger. If Im correct, the term blower shouldnt even be used when talking about a centrifial compressor but rather when refferencing a roots type. i guess the term trickled its way to the centrifical crowd as well. hope that helps.

When a female gets down on her knees and puts her hands together to pray for you to get a supercharger or other forms of belt driven compressors to make your car go faster.

Damn, you stole my line!!

When I hear blower, I think supercharger...whether it's roots or centrifugal.

I agree with the last line.

It's the same thing with your car the blower is providing the same feeling to the motor. It won't be long befor she blows.

Roots= blower

belt driven centrifugal compressor=supercharger

exhaust driven centrifugal compressor= turbo

All of the above= forced induction

None of the above=cheap

I refer to blower personally as a roots type sc. Although, I know what people mean when they say blower. I have never heard anyone refer to a turbo as a blower.

This guy at work told me about this Honduh he just bought having a blower on it. I think it is only filtercharged though I will get him to pop his hood.
