All the alky setups I looked at were like $400.

I've seen my Griffin a2a sell for as little as $450 in GP's. My piping was like less than $150 for the raw stock, and $30 for the t clamps. I have probably $200-250 in labor for welding the pipes and mounting the intercooler. Maybe a bit more. But you can do do the whole setup for $1000.

I'm making 738rwhp with 110L and IAT's of 100F after a dyno pull. I could do 650rwhp on 93 pump gas.
What size is your intercooler, and would this be the biggest, what is holding up your face of the car and do you have pics..

What do you think of these other intercooler out there

The OBX's I've seen have a 3" wide core, but the one you posted has a 4" wide core. Looks like a great deal for the money.

Any particular problems with the install? Most every FMIC I've seen installed on the 4th gen f-bodies have 3" cores.

No problem at all, infact a friend of mine have a custom made thats 6" thick (at least) and a cuple of inches wider and taller than oure, the only thing he had to do was bend the inner "ears" on the front frame...
The only pics i have of it is from my cellphone so the quality is bad/sad.

Re: What level of power has Alky/Water taken your setup

Would there be room to extend your bottom brackets out to cant the bottom of the intercooler forward? Looking at your last two pics, it looks like the normal routing of air to the radiator is blocked. Are you still running the windsheild wiper tank and the black plastic panel that directs air to the radiator, as well as the lower air damn?

I definintely need to retain airflow to the radiator - it can get pretty hot here in Houston.

Thanks for the help...

Re: What level of power has Alky/Water taken your setup

the 3 last pics is on my friends BIG intercooler...
On our car its no problem to get air to the radiator the normal way, the bottom of the front is less than a inch lower compared to stock and yes its possible to move the lower brackets a little more forward and "angel" the IC, but i think you have to trim little on the inside of the front (were the foglights use to be) if you wanna use the fronts stock lower mounting points.

I havent decied if i should keep the W.wiper tank in stock location but the black plastic panel aint going back on the car, and its possible that im gonna reduce the size of the airdamm to increase airflow true the front and IC..
front looks like this now http://groups.msn.com/camaroZ28/cama...hoto&PhotoID=6 (not our car)

My car:

We removed the front bumper support.

The intercooler has tabs welded onto it that attach to the core support where the bumper support use to attach.

The nose is not braced, was no need on my car.

Re: What level of power has Alky/Water taken your setup

I guess I paid a lil too much for my piping as it was about $300 for piping, T-clamps, hoses etc. Granted I didn't use it all so i could have saved $50 or so. Either way thats still over $500 for materials. Which is about the same price for a progressive Alky kit shipped. $400-$450. Labor is a moot point for me because I think the Alky kit was actually harder to install. LOL

As fro IATs. Most of us can't measure before and after because our IATs are before or at the MAF and you don't spray through the MAF so there is no way to know your IATs with Meth unless you fab in another sensor.

With the alky, where do you spray it in??? would it not be at the TB....that is where the IAT sensor..is on an LT1 so could you not see the diff in temp...

Re: What level of power has Alky/Water taken your setup

Ahh ok. I know nothing about LT1s in that respect so yes. On an LT1 you should be able to see the before and after effect then. I hang out mostly on LS1Tech.com and obviously we have different setups. The LS1's IAT is in the lid and the trucks IAT is part of the MAF.

Now, we just need an LT1 guy that has a meth kit to speak up. LOL

Re: What level of power has Alky/Water taken your setup

instead of removing my front clip on my camaro for the washer fluid bottle. what other model cars from a junk yard could i look for that would have a small washer bottle that i could put in the open space on the driverside where the factory air box was on my LT1. i would fab something up to hold it in place.
