If I used a manual it'd be a Joe P MBC. Joe started supporting the DSM crowd years ago with a cheap and reliable unit. Never had complaints about. Also I met the guy, which helps.

Electronic (using now) - Apexi

I'm going to give MSD's new Launch Controller a shot. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Joe's site:

On boostcontroller.com:

Forced Performance:

For the Apexi AVC-R:

I used the Joe P mbc for a long time with my old DSM's. Never had a problem with them. Very simple, very effective. I havent used the apexi AVC-r personally before, but I've seen it used and heard many good reviews.

I'll give you personal feedback in April

I'm currently using a simple dual stage electronic unit from STS. My buddy just swtiched to a Greddy unit.

I'm gonna switch mine over on this new motor but I have yet to decide which one I want. I get Greddy stuff at cost so I might go that route.

On the new Apexi AVCr I've seen features such as gear specific boost control. Any idea how you're going to set that up geoff? And is there a specific model of AVCR meant for cars that did not originally come with a turbo. Only reason I ask is because I've seen many blitz controllers that were meant for OEM turbo cars such as supras, subarus, etc.

Re: What do you LT1/LS1 guys run for a boost controller

The Blitz controllers meant for specific vehicles usually have plug and play setups for the wiring. Blitz isn't to helpful at their tech line either, I have one of their FAT-DC turbo timers and they told me it wouldn't work on a camaro. Well it's working

You will need to just buy a universal boost controller and figure it out yourself. Obviously if you went with the AVC-R and wanted it to display injector duty cycle RPM, MAP (only for 2-3 bar sensors) and all the other crap it can do your going to have to tap the PCM yourself and figure out what does what. Personally All I'd want is the adjustablity of boost control per rpm. Might make launching on the street easier.

RPM and gear was what got me hooked. Also it can help control the boost surge, which again, all is for the battle of traction.

Apexi's tech support has been top notch since the day I first had problems. I'll call them on monday about their advice on a domestic application. Also ask them how it works with gearing (which isnt vehicle specific, each car must be fine tuned)

And once I get it up and running I'll make an FAQ. Not to mention I know DSM guys tweaked it till they could make a stutterbox out of it with a programmable rev limiter. Launching was just floor it and then let the clutch go. No guess work needed. Almost as easy as an auto

Most of these are either a 0-10 psi regulator, or some sort of needle valve to bleed off some of the wastegate signal. Nothing special.

Well it goes to 14-16 just fine and gets the job done. Nothing special is right though. Buddy has an eboost on his car and its pretty sweet.
