Water injection tuning

Hi guys,
I see many threads about water injection, how it works and what the results are. But I never saw a suggestion about tuning the engine with it.
Who can help me?
My car is a 98 Trans Am (LS1) with stock internals and a non intercooled 6 PSI Vortech kit.
Injectors are 36 Bosch and I have an additional fuel pump (about 58 PSI at WOT).
I have a DIY water injection system that works pretty well (100 PSI gear pump, nozzles from 4 to 10 GPH).
Right now I spray 4 GPH distilled water and the cooling effect is amazing, at the same time I run the original Vortech program that sets an AFR of about 10.8 and 17* timing at WOT.
I have a WB installed before the passenger cat.

What AFR, timing and water quantity do you suggest? Also water/alcohol percentage?
The AFR isn’t affected by water, I checked.

I have some components from Greg Carroll (pump, nozzles) and I also spoke with him about tuning.
His suggestion is to set the AFR at 12.5 – 13 with very low timing, then add water/alcohol, then increase timing until ping. Then add liquid, increase timing and so on, until it’s too much liquid (engine bogs). Then reduce timing a little for safety. That’s it.

Do you agree with this strategy? I’m just scared about setting such a lean AFR…

Thank you for any suggestion - Stefano

The use of alky/water injection is much more prevalent over at Turbobuick.com

Re: Water injection tuning

...I know, but they are running a much higher level of boost. Also in engines that were built for that....
