Wastegate vs Blowoff

I caught last months article in Gm-Hightech titled "the Great Wastegate Debate." was wondering if anyone has tried the swap with sc lt1 (wastegate controlled boost vs. just pulleys) ??
The answers im looking for is wastegate mm size? 44? 60? etc and what kind of dangers do i you have to worry about with over-spinning the head unit.
I have a D1-SC with a 3.25 pulley (10-11psi my set-up) I want to run 14-16 psi and bleed off the excess boost to bring my power band down lower and carry more torque through the rpm range. and insight or advice would be appreciated!!!
thanks

Re: Wastegate vs Blowoff

As long as you don't spin the blower faster (or much faster) than the stated max rpm you should be fine. You might want to keep a closer eye on the oil in the case though as well as the belt/tensioner.

As far as size of the gate you would need to do a bit of math to figure out exactly how big your hole needs to be to bleed off enough air. I would bet a 38mm gate would be more than sufficient though.
