wanting to boost in the future but building motor now
I am about to pull and build the motor in my 94 camaro z28 and I can't afford a fi setup atm but I am planning on one in the future what all should I do to the block now to make a fi set up installion easier in the future. Also I know I need to lower my compression can anyone recommend a build that would handle a 12-15lb boost set up but not be aweful until I have it

Re: wanting to boost in the future but building motor now
You should probably get 4 bolt main caps and forged pistons to net you 9.5:1 or less static compression. I have 9.0, but it is a 383 and certainly doesn't seem like a dog when just driving around, but probably would be a lot more peppy with higher compression. I am not sure at what boost/power level you should keep the compression lower. Also consider studs instead of bolts for the mains and heads, and MLS head gaskets. You will want to consider boost in choosing your cam and setting up your valve springs also. Another thing you have to consider is the rest of your drivetrain, which might need you to throw even more money its way sooner or later. And your fuel system. It has been said before around here by guys who know and guys who blow, that it can easily take $20k or more to do it right. Or even more if you do it wrong first then do it right later... $5k motor, $3k transmission, $5k blower setup, $.5k fuel, $2.5k rear end, several $k other stuff - tuning, driveshaft, BIGGER TIRES...
