Question Want to supercharge but....

I am planning on getting a supercharger withing the next couple of weeks but i had a couple of questions first. I want to buy a kit that i can add on to and change as my demmand for power changes, but Iwould like a quality piece that i can run now and not hurt anything. All I have now are the mods in my sig but i do plan on adding some motor mods as well. What would be a good kit to do this with? Also I have a spare set of heads and an intake manifold in my basement. Would it help to port those without putting in a cam right away? I do intend to rip into the shotblock eventually before I go crazy with it but it won't be right away. I think it will give me some time to get used to the new power before i go out and do something dumb. Plus I've always felt it's no fun to just buy the best you can right out of the gate with no room for improvement. Sorry i droned on. I would just like some advice from the guys that have done this before.

The vortech S trim and Procharger P600b and P1SC are good starter kits for a stock motor. If you are on a tight budget, you can probably find these used and save some money. These will take you up to around 550rwhp on a budget rebuilt motor, and will make for a fun street car.

If you plan on rebuilding the motor and cranking up the boost later, I'd get a at least T-trim or D1SC. You can keep those turned down enough to be safe on a stock bottom end, and have the possibility of 650rwhp later on.

I originally bought the D1SC with the twin intercooler kit. If I could do it again, I would have just pieced together my own kit, and would have ended up with a better intercooler for about the same price.

I have a P600, its a good intro unit, I'll eventually go bigger but for now its plenty of extra for me. You might as well budget in a rebuild because its gonna happen sooner or later...you'll want to push more boost or something. So you might as well plan for it now.

With your D1SC how much psi did you use ?? How is your drivability?
For a fully forged 383cid engine with 210cc AFR heads is it waste of money to go smaller than D1SC ?? Drivability is important because its a daily car ,so how much psi ? and what specs of cam should be? (now 237/245 584/589 113lsa)

Thanks guys. It looks like i am going to build the block first and then put on a blower down the road. Everyone i talk to say the shortblock can't handle it for long so there's no sense in blowing it up and hurting something else.

I ran between 8-10# on stock bottom end, unported LT4's, and hotcam with a 4" pulley.
yeah, for the 383, get at least a D1SC, look into F1.
Other than the whine, you cant even tell it's on the car till you get into the boost.
standard blower cam is XE 224/236 114.
