Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
Do you have at least $10,000? I'm guessing that's at least what it would cost by the time you make your engine capable of handling that power, with all the stuff, dyno tuning, etc etc.

Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
looks like you first need an english lesson.
start by searchin some basic articles on turbo setups. You're going to have to do alot of engine work and a lot of custom fabrication. It's not some simple bolt on **** like hondas.

fwiw, I don't think I built the best motor I could have built... but i tried not to skimp out on too many parts. Going from 100% stock to a complete rebuilde and some other supporting mods will probably cost me around 9500 when i finish everything...

see if the kit has intake piping, you need that and probably an intercooler or 2, but you could buy twin ATIs so your fabrication would be minimal.
cutting for the intake piping and intercooler possibly.
thats the only fabrication.
some type of boost controller and adaquate fuel delivery
probably 5 psi would be safe on a stock motor.
get it dyno tuned
probably shoot you over 400 rear wheel.

Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
$2000 sounds like a rip off, that might buy you two nice turbos and a good intercooler. Usually with questions of this nature, if you have to ask, you're not experienced or knowledgable enough to tackle this job yourself. If you're hell bent on doing it anyway, some jobs are just best left to a shop.
I priced this out once before and by using many free parts, doing all the work myself and buying all used stuff just the turbo setup was going to cost near $3,500. A stock motor at 10:1 CR can only handle about 5-6psi safely, so 11:1 you should boost less. at 4-5psi, a twin setup isn't worth it. You could achieve that with less cost with a single turbo. Assuming you want to boost more, you're going to need to build up the motor, which can range from $3,000-$10,000. After that you're still going to need some supporting mods like a better clutch or converter, possibly a new rear end (12 bolt or 9 inch). You're going to need some type of tuning, be it new PCM or some type of stand alone.
Like I said before, going turbo on an LT1 isn't just some bolt on job. There's a lot of research and planning that must go into it.

Dude, listen to those tell you. They are not discouraging you. The reality is real. Twin turbocharged a LT1 is never come cheap, even you build it yourself. Now you see why there are not that many twin turbo LT1 running all over the places.

Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
i have a stage 3 clutch on it already and the kit coms with heads and the only real problem that u guys hav presented 2 me is that the piping gonna b a problem.wat if i go single turbo.would that b easier.i was planing on lowering my compression neways 2 run more boost.i was also planing on running a bigger stronger rear end also.ne1 got ne info on a set up 4 a single turbo kit then

Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
You're still going to need all the motor mods, fuel mods, ignition, etc... to run a single turbo. The closest you're going to get to a bolt-on kit is from PTK. Figure on spending $6k just on the turbo parts in addition to the rest of the stuff you will need. I hope your budget is more like $30k.

Re: want 2 twin turbo lt1
Go to www.proturbokits.com. They build the best single kit out there for an LT-1/LS-1 point period! I have a gen 2 LT-1 kit that I am going to be finishing up after I get my block back from the machine shop. I have spent about 10,000 so far but I am not going 383, instead the more reliable 355 with all forged parts and some of the best flowing heads out there. I havent yet purchased my rear end or bought the stand alone dfi. Thats easy $3,000 more than what I have already spent!!! Twins arent worth it bro. The single kit I have will support 1,200 hp with the air to water intercooler and properly sized head unit. Even so, turbo LT-1 anything is expensive. Welcome to the site and good luck with your future build!
