Talking Vortech S-Trim or ATI Procharger P-1SC?

Im not interested in a Turbo first of all, and I just wanted some feedback on these to superchargers to aid me in my decision. 4k is alot of money to spend so I want to make sure I spend it on whhats best for my car 1994 Z28 m6 with 100k miles. I Know a rebuild will be soon after but Ill worry about that later. Thanks any feedback will help.

Definately the procharger. Vortech is second in my opinion. Read up on the P1, they guarantee it will make more power than any other s/c in its class, like the rest of their s/c's.

Happy with my S-Trim - no issues.

Buy one used and save yourself a ton of money for other mods. 130+k here, see cardomain for complete mod list.

Re: Vortech S-Trim or ATI Procharger P-1SC?

I am a big fan of the Vortechs as well...I have heard that a Vortech will make more hp than a Procharger at the same boost level, but that could be nonsense....

I do know that Vortech publishes their compressor maps and ATI doesn't. That tells you something right there. I do like the impeller of the Vortechs better than the p600b I had, but it seems like the D1 and P1's are more Vortech-like...

The great thing about the Procharger is that most of them will have an intercooler (or twins). You can run more boost and not worry about detonation. In my opinion, you can't really go wrong with either one, but I lean towards Vortech.

Yeah I read up on this comparison I found this http://www.superchargersonline.com/i...1sc_report.pdf

it compares the two and it found that ATI doesnt meet specs that it claims and vortech does but then i see the intercooler included and price varitation and it makes me think. Also i would love a custom front mount intercooler on which ever i chose eventually. Any luck with front mounts from anybody, or ease or difficulty of doing so???? thanks for everybodys input it is very helpful.

I don't think Darkhorse has $4K in his entire setup and I would not be surprised to see the car in the 10.90's this year...driven to the track...on pump gas...@ 7 psi.

Powerdyne would be a step down from Vortech or ATI in terms of power output.

excellent link.

I am very curious about how a Vortech would do against a procharger if they leveled the playing field and ran both units intercooled and both without intercoolers...

Even the intercoolers are different. ATI uses air-air, Vortech uses water-air. You can ice down the water in a Vortech and create a larger temp. differential which would improve the heat exchange. But air-air seems more practical for street use.

absolutely. I wouldn't do water-air on a streetcar unless that's all i had to work with.

I think a good test would be a custom FMIC mounted in a z28, then switching the blowers and having the tubing routed through the same intercooler, in the same car. Then I would be convinced by that outcome...but most likely that's not gonna happen...

Re: Vortech S-Trim or ATI Procharger P-1SC?

Its only about $300 to upgrade to the D1SC. You could pulley it down now with your stock motor and when it goes boom and you rebuild you'll have plenty of blower for future upgrades. The procharger customer support is top notch.

I've never owned a vortech but I'm sure they are good quality also. The main difference is the intercoolers.

Re: Vortech S-Trim or ATI Procharger P-1SC?

I have owned both, and yes, they are both excellent systems. Main reason I sold the Procharger instead of the Vortech was because I could get more money for it at the time (which I needed badly to pay tuition.)

Re: Vortech S-Trim or ATI Procharger P-1SC?

There is probly very little difference between Vortech and Procharger as far as quality and power output are concerned. There are plenty of people making lots of power with both systems. I dont see how you could go wrong with either company. I wouldn't pay much attention to the mudslinging from either side, they are the 2 top competitors for centrifugal SC's so there's going to be some animosity between the companies. Just flip a coin, or go with the one that you think has the coolest name .
