Vortech Oil feed

Whats the deal with these things? It says not to use Tephlon tape on the threads but how the hell are you supposed to keep it from leaking?

Its in such a wierd place you can't get a wrench on the assembly to tighten all the way.

Is tephlon paste ok to use?

Re: Vortech Oil feed

You're just supposed to lightly coat the threads in oil according to the instructions.

Re: Vortech Oil feed

They just dont want ANYTHING to plug the orfice. use some pase on the THREADS, making sure it does NOT get into the end of the fitting or the line and you will be ok.

Re: Vortech Oil feed

I took it apart and put tephlon on it. I was careful not to get any extra anywhere.

Stuiped instructions, what the hell do they know? with as small as oil is how can you not put tephlon on the threads.

I didn't use any. The fittings are designed to seal up as you tighten them.

Re: Vortech Oil feed

We don't allow any Teflon tape in lube oil piping in our major compressor and turbine trains and the plant. Bits of Teflon find their way into bearings and orifices and crash the equipment. Most pipe and tubing fittings are designed to seal with no sealer.
