Vortech loosing boost

Alright I have a 94 firebird formula M6, running a vortech V-1 S-trim @ 5 lbs. I get up to about 3500 and see about 3lbs and then it falls off to 0lbs and does this in every gear. My question is i don't know where else to check. Ive checked the belt and it seems to be tight. It just started doing this about 2 weeks ago and before it pulled hard in every gear seeing 5lbs. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Greg

Re: Vortech loosing boost

Just some guesses, but maybe a failing bypass valve or collapsing intake duct (dryer hose stuff on the stock setup)?

I also thought it could of been the bypass valve but i checked it out and seems to be fine. And yes it has the dryer hose stuff on the discharge side (air filter side)

I also forgot to add ever sence i hooked up the boost gauge even when it was seeing full boost the vacume side only reads 8psi and normal should be around 20 or so

I'd double check your bypass valve...a buddy of mine had his fail and I think his vacuum went from about 18 to 12 overnight, fortunately it was just the bypass valve. You might also check your installation on the gauge, or the gauge itself. Does the car continue to pull strong when the gauge shows 0 boost?

No the car stops pulling and feels like a** i guess because of the fuel it's dumping. I went over the car again today and took the couplers off and made sure they was tight and also checked the belt. Everything looked good and the belt was tight but still doing the same thing. It has the 8 rib pullie setup maybe i should try a new belt?

Re: Vortech loosing boost

He replaced his with the standard Bosch one; I think he bought it through Vortech and paid a premium, only to find out the part number is right on it and it's available at the local NAPA or whatever. Unless you're running more boost than the stock kit, I think that one is fine. You could certainly try the belt first since it's cheaper and easier to replace.
