twin intank fuel pump?
twin intank fuel pump?
Im looking for a good fuel system that will support 700rw. Im currently looking to go with a twin intank as it would probably be the easiest. Last I heard was that Racetranix was not making these anymore?. So for the people who do have the twin intanks, did you make it your self?, how much inclusing parts did it cost you. Does anyother compnay besides Racetronic make these systems?.

Re: twin intank fuel pump?
I have designed my own system. Dual Walbro 255 lph intank. Seperate circuits for each pump with Pump#1 on a K-Bell amp, and I can turn off pump #2. Good for 200+ Gal per hr flow @ 45 psi. Also, I modified the tank plumbing unit for high-flow by use of socketless 3/8 hose for each pump and return. The stock small diameter and tight radius tank unit is gone. That thing is junk and does not flow. Fabbed my own plate. Works great and seals pressure. Also did the delivery end as well with 1/2 dia and a fuel cooler. Did not drop the tank. Cut a hole (rectangular) thru the pan and went thru the interior. That was easy. Also, now I have instant access to pumps should I ever want to remove them. Fabbed a sheet-metal cover. I have some instructions and schematics but not pics. Each pump was $125 from Summit racing. If you want info, please e_mail me to request it.
Re: twin intank fuel pump?
Made my own twin 255 intank set-up. It was really easy to put together. The hardest part was wiring. You can't run both pumps all the time because the fuel will recirculate and heat up, plus you won't be able to control the pressure with the stock regulator and return line.
I have one pump running all the time, and one actuated by a boost pressure switch.

Lonnie Pavtis is a Racetronix distributor, I'd recommend sending him an "E" mail at lpavtis@earthlink.net www.lonniesperformance.com
As far as making one yourself, it can be done, see the above link.
It is a tight fit and my setup took alot of time to fabricate (something I'm glad I didn't have to pay by the hour
)Cost........hmmm, got a few beers in me, let me ponder
Two 255 high pressure pumps (not sure of current pricing, think I paid ~130 for each pump but it's been a while.
I believe I bought two 20 foot rolls of braided hose (-8 for the feed and -6 for the return). Had to buy a bunch of fittings, also had to have the ends of the fuel rail modified to accept -6 fittings (run -8 to a "Y" and then -6 to each fuel rail), had a fittling welded into the front for a return and sent that to a Weldon FPR (~$200). Also, put a K&N inline fuel filter to the -8 feel line, that was an expensive little bastard ~$50 I think.
Modifying the fuel rail ensures better fuel distribution (don't need #8 starving itself
)If you do it yourself, make sure you run good power feed lines and don't do what I did (share the stock common ground), run a larger ground wire.
The racetronix kit seems decent and comes with wiring but I was in a rush and didn't have time to send out my fuel unit(whatever the hell you call the damn thing)....in hindsight I did have the time but what is done is done

Re: twin intank fuel pump?
I bought "painless" 30amp relay electric fuel pump with wiring harness from Jeg/Summit. This wiring harness is power my 2nd intank pump. I also get power from the alternator for the 2nd pump. Fittings and braided line are darn expensive but it look good.

Re: twin intank fuel pump?
When only one pump is running, doesn't fuel push back through the non-running pump in reverse? Or do the pumps contain an internal "check valve" of sorts? Just curious because I like this setup.
