Turbotech kit with solid Moroso motor mounts

Well in case noone has tried it yet the steering shaft hits the header really badly. Has anyone ever fixed the problem?

I've considered buying an aftermarket K member and a manual rack, just a manual rack, one of the Flaming River military spec u-joints or just dinging the header and grinding down the coupler. Any other ideas? Does anyone offer a better steering linkage?

I tried just grinding down the coupler but I'd have to take alot off. I also considered just spacing up the engine mounts but thats nearly as ghetto as grinding the coupler.

I ran into this problem with the moroso mounts Had to modify the back of the tt manifold to fit around the steering shaft.. Sorry no pics as the system is long gone.

If i did it over again I would just get a piece of alum to the thickness to clear and mill it to fit under your motor mount between the K member and the mount. Will be light, look fine and give you the correct spacing.

So does it clear with a good aftermarket K-member? I need one anyways and this would make for a good excuse to do so

In all honesty I don't see it making much differance as the engine sits in the same spot.. I did not get my tubular K member till i got rid of my turbo technology kit..

if its that metal clip that strengthens the rag joint that is hitting you can bend it straight sideways as opposed to being bent back toward the firewall, thats what I had to do to make my headers work.

No, it's actually the u joint itself. Thanks for the suggestion though. The Flaming river joint is going to be ordered this weekend, if that doesn't work then the mounts are going to be shimmed.
