Turbocharged small block with a Carb....

Ok first off I have a sbc 406 with Eagle crank, 6.0" eagle rods, flat tops, Pro-Topline 72cc chamber 200cc runner 2.02/1.60, Doug Herbert solid-roller cam, changing to a Victor Junior and 850 Demon carb setup. I have been seeing alot of rather large turbochargers on ebay and other forums for sale at very nice prices. My question is how hard is it to get a turbocharged/carb setup to run good? Ive noticed most turbo'd cars go with FI and also what would be the best compression ratio? This is all new for me so any advice or input would be appreciated. Thanks
