Turbo + TH350 + Footbrake = What's your 'leave' technique?
Turbo + TH350 + Footbrake = What's your 'leave' technique?
___Back when I was using a 100 shot on my 355 along with a TH350 w/2800 Vigi, the best sixty foots (hyper consistent 1.6x with one 1.5x at Houston's Raceway Park) were attained by just idle at the full stage, stomping the gas on the last yellow light on the tree. I had tried using the line lock to raise the RPM all the brakes would hold, 1000 RPM, 1200 RPM etc but all I did was spin. Now I'm going away from my 6 speed and back to a TH350+Vigilante TC. With the Turbocharger, my 3000 RPM torque won't be as high as it was with the N2O, so I'm wondering what technique you non-transbrake guys utilize.
Thanks,
Dave

With a 4 inch tire up front my foot brake is almost worthless. I'll let you know when I figure it out lol.
Linelock no good on the line - you need to be on the rear brakes too.
This car (not the 95) has a transbrake - probably going to be using it.

I ran a 4000 "nitrous converter" which worked really well for my turbo build, although on the line it wouldn't load up enough to really build boost. I would stall it up as hard as I could, building up to about 1" of vacuum and then leave like that, went mid/high 1.5x 60fts. With a 2 setup(hyfire VI) I could stall it up to 3000rpm and build 8lbs(wastegate), never ran at the track like this, but on the street the tires would go up in smoke fairly quick, lol.
Hmmm.. sounds like there's no real good way to make this work w/o a transbrake, lol.
Oh well. Once I get the car back together, I'll try the different techniques I can think of and see what works for a foot brake car. Thanks for the responses !

Okay, I've been very curious about the two steps.
- What's a good one(MSD, Mallory, etc)
- How much are they in general?
- Is there a write up for our car/engines that you can point out to me?
Dunno if this is the answer but I found this in another forum...
Just a thought and wondering if it could be done;
On the Mallory 685, there is an orange wire which I believe is for a Auxiliary rev limiter in the Mallory 685. When hooked up to a pre stage push button switch, the push button switch would activate the secondary rev. limiter. I could also hook this switch together with a line lock. When I would stage the car, I would set and activate the line lock off of the push button switch and at the same time it would activate the auxiliary rev limiter on the Mallory 685. I could set the rev limiter to 2000 rpm. Now I am staged and when the car beside me stages, I could floor it. The line lock would hold the car at the start and the rev. limiter would not allow the motor to rev pass 2000 RPMs. When I see the last amber light on the tree go off, I release the push button, which would release the line lock, and allow the motor to go now that the rev limiter is shut off.
