turbo soon...

alright so i just got a 95 z28 which i plan to take the motor out this weekend and start tearing it down...

plan for this motor is to build it up well enough to someday support a turbo and throw down around 500+rwhp hopefully. now since i have never run a turbo setup in my life(maybe cuz im 18) i need a lot of help... so pretty much what im asking is about what kinda stuff should i do to this motor (pistons, heads, cam) to get ready for a turbo set up???? what kinda set ups do you guys have running here that you feel comfortable with??? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Maverick,

Did you check out the sticky at the top of the FI page? Start there and come back with any specific questions.

How big is your budget?

Who will be doing all the work?

im 18 and just went through this whole thing.

I origionally started with a stock long block and 4 psi. Then i upgraded to TRW pistons, upped the boost...had a failure in the valvetrain.

Ended up buying a fully forged bottom end and putting my trickflow heads on it. I had probably 12k into just the motor alone.

My advise since your so young, as am i....WAIT

dont even think about it right now, theres MUCH better things to spend your money on. I actually just sold my car this past monday (labor day), and its probably the smartest thing i have done since im in college right now.

yeah, once your in college, you realize..."man, i wish i had more money, where did it all go"...then you look at your car and figure it out REAL fast.

I sold my car for a decent chunk of change, but nowhere near what i had into it. Now I have enough for next years tuition, etc, so i can play around alittle more this year

Im 24 now and have a "real" sales job, i make 40k and its gone faster than i ever thought. Save your money bro.
