Turbo setup

Right now im rebuilding my motor to 355. 4 bolt mains fully forged, i also got a big holset turbo off of a dodge ram desiel truck, and a cc306 cam on a 114lsa, im wondering if anyone else has done a 355 turbo with cc306, keep in mind my pistons are 32cc dish so im gonna be running quite a bit of boost, any suggestions comments or ideas on what you guys would recommend

Re: Turbo setup

I'm running a t67 turbo with a stock engine and hot cam similar to cc305. You should be okay.

Re: Turbo setup

What's the compression ratio for the engine? How much boost are you planning on running?

I would think you would need a bigger turbo than one off of a diesle pickup truck. They are rated for great torque, but the key is HP and air flow. Do you have a compressor map or something?

The cam should do just fine, but if you are planning on running bigger boost you might want a more agressive cam. Just some stuff to think about.

Re: Turbo setup

The stock Turbo Diesels turbos have a compressor map that closely resembles a T60. Hardly "Huge"

Re: Turbo setup

Ya those turbo's work great on 2.3L mustangs. I had a Holset on one of my Mustangs I used to own. They're also good for STOCK 5.0's. I hardly think it'll work to well on a cammed LT1.

Re: Turbo setup

I would put it all together, with a T4 flange , run it and tune it , you can always put more turbo to it later after you have everything else figuered out , a Holset off a 5.9 cummins should make 475-500 whp, and I am from the, use a stock cam school, until your sure you need more. if that 306 means seat to seat duration YES, but if it means at .050 lift I think no I wouldnt use it. to bad it wasnt a twin cam then you could spread the LCs out. stock cams on the street work quite well, but maybe your planning a 1000hp !! Re: Turbo setup

I would say atleast a T-70. If you want to get a little more crazy in the future go with a T-76. Talk to jose at www.forcedinductions.com.

Re: Turbo setup

I've got a 76.5mm HKS turbo on a 355 with a Comp 305 grind. It runs okay and makes 569 at the wheels at 9 psi, but I wish I had gotten a turbo cam when I built the motor instead of using what I had. The boost comes on slowly on my setup.
