Turbo or S/C

Re: Turbo or S/C
Having never bought the "kit" I am not sure what they come with. I would guess it would come with the Turbo, and everything to mount it, and the exhaust manifold. The kits usually are about $7500 on average from what I have seen. The fuel system, tuning, and computer setup should be equal to that of a SC.
I don't know who you are getting your pricing from on the ATI items, but if you are paying $6600 for a F1 kit, you are getting ripped off. I got my D1 kit brand new for $2,600 (yeah, I know someone). Granted I got a killer deal on it, but if you shop around you should be able to find much better deals on them. Ask Bob at EPP what price he can get you from ATI, he is usually the lowest one out there.

Dam thats one hell of a deal. Who do you go through. I will buy it for that price right now. Did you get the intercooler with it? So all the tuning and stuff cost as much as a s/c kit?! Thats crazy.

Re: Turbo or S/C
The deal I got was from a personal friend who pulled a lot of strings to make it happend for me. It was not something he could do again, and I would not ask him to. I would again call Bob at EPP, or then try Speed Inc. for best pricing on a Supercharger.
The kit came with everything except the intercooler. The FMIC I got from Bob at EPP. I ended up making my own fuel system though with a dual in tank walboro system, off of a HOBBS switch.
Tuning will probably run you a good $500, the fuel pumps, hoses, HOBBS switch, injectors probably ran me another $1000. This has nothing to say of the $9,000 it cost me for parts and labor for my motor alone. I went top of the line (with the exception that I didn't upgrade from my AFR 180 fully ported heads to some higher flowing ones) with everything on my motor, and had it professionally built. Altogether I probably spend a good $13,000 or so on everything between upgrading my 383 with new pistons, cam, tuning, blower, custom piping it took to have the custom FMIC from EPP work + the FMIC itself, ect., and everything else to have it turn key and pull down near 600 RWHP still using the stock PCM and running on pump gas. If I would have went with a Turbo, I imagine it would have cost me an additional $7500 or so.
This is the reason most people don't have Turbo's or even Superchargers on their F-bodies. To make them hold up, with a good built motor, and forged internals, and have everything done correctly, it will cost a lot. That price is elevated even further for Turbo cars.

Re: Turbo or S/C
What type of intercooling system are you running? And if EPP customizes it, does that make Prochargers fmic bad or not as good? Im going to stick with the s/c. More practical as of now for me.

Re: Turbo or S/C
ATI doesn't offer a FMIC for the LT1's. All they have is twin high flow ones that go on the sides down below your bumper. I have personally seen these intercoolers maxed out at 6-8 #'s of boost. After that they just can't keep up, and you are open to possible detonation. They do offer a FMIC for the LS1 cars but it won't fit to the LT1 system. Again, I highly reccomend (and I know I am not alone on this one) getting a FMIC if you plan on running more than 8#'s of boost.
EPP's custom FMIC will work, however you need to find a shop that can fabricate the piping to fit up to the blower. Most exhaust shops with a tig welder can usually get the job done pretty easy. My motor shop fabbed me the piping for mine, and it worked out well.

Air/Air. There's a pic of mine in this thread; http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...highlight=FMIC
I would just re-post the picture, but I am currently deployed in the Desert, and the website I post pics at (www.tinypic.com) is blocked.
Let me know if you can see it in the thread, because any picture I have posted before from there (or anyone elses) is also blocked to me. If you can't see it and are interested, I may be able to email you the pic.

Re: Turbo or S/C
The actual FMIC wasn't too bad to install. Just had the bumper removed and had some welding done, and took out the foam insert from the bumper when putting it back on.
I don't know how much I spent in the fab work to get it hooked up, but I know I would have saved a lot of money having an exhaust shop or someone else who didn't charge an arm and a leg an hour to use a tig weldor.
