Turbo Oiling Question

Hey guys, where do you get your oil feed from for the turbo on the LT-1 engine. (port sizes would help too) I was going to take it off of the port directly above the oil filter and use a nitrous jet to limit it, but if there is an easier/simpler way I'm all for that too.

I was planning on picking up a tranny cooler and pumping the oil through that after it comes out of the turbo. I have to have a scavaging pump on this setup. I was going to dump the oil back into the valve cover, or should I bite the bullet and drill the oil pan?

This is for a single low mounted turbo. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have an old style block and have it plumbed into the port above the oil filter. I don't know about the LT1's but the old style block has a pressure port between the driver side intake and head that would work also.

And I would recommend just welding a bung into the pan and use a #10 return line. Seems like alot less trouble and one more pump you don't have to worry about messing up.

Here is a 1/4" npt to -4an adaptor that has a built in oil restrictor. This would be much easier than building something. And if this isn't enough oil than you can just drill it out a bit

I HAVE to use an oil pump for the return. I was just wondering if the tranny cooler was a good idea to use and where I should dump the oil back at.

Those restrictors look pretty cool. Do you guys ever pull the oil off of the sending unit at the top of the engine?

I pull mine from the port above the oil filter, than dump it directly into the pan. All the oil is cooled before the oil filter.

You ever go to Porky's on university?

I've been up there once, but without my car. I figure I need to get all my stuff strait before I can go play with the BIG dogs. My best timeslip was 11.8 @ 120 so I've got a ways to go. But I'm changing out my 2.59 rear end to a 3.45 and my 1500 stall torque converter to a 2600, gettting an Accel dfi with wideband so I know the nitrous isn't running rich (12.4 @112 n/a, somethings not right), a rebuilt tranny to get rid of slipping and if all goes well a turbo too. Then I think I'll be ready to run with the big dogs.

If you have not worked with the accel unit before I would recommend getting a FAST system with the wideband. There is not too many people around here that are familar with these systems. I (and maybe 2 others)have been working with the FAST for about three years and know my way around it pretty well. So if you ever need help tuning the car your not left in the sticks, as I was a few years back.

It will be nice to see other fast cars, I was pretty lonely last year, as a few buddies were down. This year sounds like a good year to be out assuming everyone doesn't blowup in the beginning of the season again. Anyway if you have any question or need any help feel free to hit me up. Ive been doing this turbo stuff for the last 3 years so i've hit just about every wall known to mand.
Good luck hope to cya out there
