Turbo for LT1
Re: Turbo for LT1
Got any sneak peaks of the system for us?
Just a suggestion, but if you keep the hot parts of the kit (headers, down pipe, cross over) close to that of a normal set of headers (say $800 or so), they'll sell like hot cakes.

Pro turbo kits all the way. Get a hold of Jose over at Forced Inductions. Awesome guy. If you are interested you can get the hot parts fairly cheap and build the rest of the kit. I opted to buy the entire kit less the turbo itself(PTE-76GTS). I went Liquid to air and will be buying a meth kit soon. PTK's customer service, quality product and sheer performance is what has them at the top of the turbo aftermarket world. Just give them a call and see for yourself. Dalton knows his S**T as well. There are other turbo kit companies, but I wouldnt waste your time or money with them if I were you. My .02 .

Re: Turbo for LT1
I don't have any doubt that the PTK kits are great but when you add $4,200 for their kit (that includes that Air/Water Intercooler) and then add the turbo on top of that, that is a LOT of cash for a product that isn't even complete yet. You're talking nearly $6,000 by the time that you add a good turbo and when you figure in for others, I bet it would get to near $7,000. That's why I am going to go supercharger, I think for the money, they are well worth it (Supercharger). There will be more HP and TQ with the turbo kits, but I'm not paying that much for it. When they get the kits down to what a Procharger (D1SC) or Vortech (T-trim) kit is running, then I might consider.
Re: Turbo for LT1
There is no doubt the PTK kits are very expensive, BUT they do deliver ALOT more in terms of HP and TQ when compared to a supercharger. I had a procharger and loved it. But this setup is a totally diffrent beast. The kit itself is pretty much complete less the turbo. Granted that doesnt account for the fuel system, stand alone ecu, tuning and the list goes on. I wanted 900rwhp, PERIOD and PTK's kit attains that level of performance without a problem(given a proper combination of parts). I went with the W2A upgrade($400) good up to 1,200HP. The biggest complaint I here about superchargers is the belt slip at this power level. I no longer have that worry, although I had to shell out alot of coin to accomplish this! And the other thing I think is great about this turbo is that you probably wont see one on another F-body(depends on where you live).

Re: Turbo for LT1
PTK
Base Kit
$3,100.00
+A2W intercooler option $1,100.00
+T76 Turbo $1,629.00
Total $5,829
PTK
Intercooled Kit
$4,300.00 w/ATA intercooler
+T76 $1,629.00
Total $5929.00
So, both of those kits are near $6,000 when you add a turbo and it could be more (or cheaper) depending on the turbo of choice. By the time you ship and buy other accessories such as BOV, etc. to complete the kit, you could easily be near $7,000. The description of the kits on the site are so vague, it is hard to tell what all other parts come with the kit. But, everyone is I'm sure going to get all upset at this but, I am not bashing the kits, I know they are very good kits, they are just too expensive IMO, not that forced induction is cheap to begin with.
There just needs to be other companies come out with a good LT1 turbo kit at a lower price to compete. The reason that you don't see so many turbo LT1's is because they are expensive!
gmr speed- Make a good kit (a complete kit) and make it reasonably priced!

Re: Turbo for LT1
Yeah, price the hot parts for the kit... $1899 for mild steel, uncoated headers, cross over, and a down pipe. That's two sets of Kooks STAINLESS STEEL stepped race headers for crying out loud. Heck, I could ship my car to Kooks and have them build a set of turbo headers for that price. I'm not saying the PTK headers aren't nice pieces, but I still don't think they're worth that price.
Re: Turbo for LT1
n2oblkz , I set the prices for the PTK GM systems, so I can assure you the system is the price above, that I quoted. If you want to add a 76GTS, just add $789 to the price. Also all our kits are COMPLETE, with everything you need to bolt in and go including fans as well.

I am just looking at what is on the website and and the prices of the turbo's listed. Is the price that you listed from another vendor or from that site because I did not see a price that matched what you quoted?
