Turbo charging
I have a 68 camaro I'm building a turbo charged engine for.
Why aren't there more chevy that jump on the outlaw street banwagon? The only guy's kicking the turbo engines for the most part is the 5.0L boys. YOu can't tell me Ford engines run better than chevy under boost. WHat the deal???????

They really dont have that much room. Most of those turbo Fox bodies you see with "tons of room" have at least AC delete, and probably a manual rack too. If you do the same on a fbody, you have TONS of room to easily mount 2 t66+ turbos (see Harlans car for an example).
It wasnt hard to mount my T88(big *****) while keeping AC/PS/ABS/Cruise etc.

the small block chevy is a more ideal engine. 4 bolt main for has 2 bolt. second to none oiling system 5 bolts per cylinder compared to ford's 4. The weird thing is most guys w/chevy turbosystems aren't putting out as much power as there ford counterparts.
I'm seeing 347 fords turbo charged putting 1200 to the rwp.
while 383 chevys turboed putting out maybe 700rwp.
Let me know what you guys think.

Another reason there are a lot of fast turbo stangs out there is that there are a lot of sanctioning bodies that have classes for them and they pay good money. They can compete in the NMRA,FFW,NMCA,NSCRA and so on.
The winner of the Mobile one Ford challenge in the Pro 5.0 class wins $35k!! Plus contingincy money.
One of the fastest 'stangs out there is driven buy a ex- gm guy (Chuck Samual)who switched to racing a 'stang because of all the money that can be won racing at the Ford Shootouts.
I've personaly seen him run 6.4@220mph and his sigle turbo small block has been rumored to make 2200+ hp.

Also, Jordon's right...you'd be amazed at how big of twins you can fit in our engine bays when all the rubbish is out of the way. In my car, there's enuff room between the water pump and core support, that I can stand in the engine bay.
Going fast is all about sacrifices.
