I new to FI and not sure if this is the right direction to go. I'm hoping to make 500 to 550 HP at the wheels.

Looking at the racer series short block from VRE. Planning on running 15psi of boost. VRE said, they will set the compression ratio to 9-9.5:1 with the 54cc chamber heads I have now, along with a .039head gasket.

You will easily achieve the hp #'s you want with that setup. There are better turbo options out there, but the STS kit with that turbo will support up to around ~600rwhp.
