Turbo boost controllers

What are most people using for boost controllers?

Has anybody heard much about this controller? Seth at Combination Motorsports pointed that one out to me.

Yea, I noticed the price tag. I think that includes the wastegate also.

I would just go with a manual controller. Much cheaper and very reliable.

I didn't see a price listed anywhere, but you're right, it looks nice. I like how it mounts in a traditional gauge pod instead of being taped to the dash.

I have 2 manual controllers hooked up to a 3-way solenoid. This way I can switch between 2 different boost setting. This costed me about $70 and works just as well as any $500 electric unit.

I wouldnt say just as well as an electronic unit.

First of all, my AVCR allowed me to run different boost in different gears, and change the boost setting every 500rpm.. which made a hug difference in being able to put down power on a autocross, etc. Not to mention if i really spent some time dialing it in... it would help with racing on street tires/DRs.

Also, by the nature of a electronic controlled solenoid vs just a spring valve(basically what a MBC is), you can control the wastegate more accuratly. you can keep it seated longer, and more it faster when the time comes.

EBCs are illigal in most classes because of the huge advantage if they are setup properly-infinitaly controllable boost

Yes over all they are nice. My buddy runs the innovative unit. In my case I would not benifit much from running an electric unit. All I need is to go from 20psi-25psi. I set one controller at 20psi which gets me through the first 2-3 gears depending on the day. Then blow 25psi after that. Everything is setup and works awesome in my case. The car hooks and goes, so I have no use for ramp setting and boost in each gear. Thus, in my case manual works just as well, but i didnt mean across the board by anymeans

Yeah, it'll control max boost just as well assuming atmospheric conditions are always the same, but you can't can't control how quick boost comes in and it's difficult to set boost accurately on the fly. I always sell an EBC unless the customer can't afford an extra $200 to do it right.
