Besides the obvious ability to more efficiently run and tune over the opti/LT1 PCM, what will the conversion do? My car already seems like it runs pretty good off the factory PCM, what have you guys noticed difference wise after the conversion?

Next question; what power gains (if any), where made after the conversion?

I don't know about power gains as I never ran this setup with the stock computer, although I'm sure there are some over the factory ignition, but one of the main reasons I did it was for easier tuning, better idle and not having to worry about the spark blowing out as well as increased rpm capabilities. I haven't even pushed my setup yet, but I'm confident the ignition will support whatever I throw at it. Plus I already had EFI Live for my diesel truck, so I figured why not. Also there is a lot of tuning support for the LS crowd and not so much for the LT's anymore.

Well, for years I have been running 7000 RPM on an AC Delco opti, and factory LT1 PCM and have great drivability (idles and drives better than my N/A LS1 in my sig), plus I have never ran into any spark issues. So I am curious from those that have done the swap, what the difference was for them.

My opti is finally starting to go, and if someone can show me their positive results over my setup, then I would consider the upgrade. But its a hard sell for me given the expense of the conversion, and that my setup has ran so good for so long.

I never had a problem with the stock PCM and the opti. I was still on the original one at 93,000 miles when I sold the motor. I know that there are ways to work around the limitations of the stock ignition and my dyno tuner was very good at it, but I like doing things different from the norm, so that was my main persuasion for doing the 24X swap. I'd like to hear from someone who was actually pushing the limits to the stock ignition and what they gained from the swap.

Based on your results, it sounds like it's best if you keep the opti.

Yeah, I am leaning towards that. It would be nice to have all the niceties that come with the conversion, but a hard sell when everything works so good as is, and the conversion is so expensive.

Anyone else have any info?

There was a good thread about it on LS1tech a while ago, but I see you already posted there
