For those that weld your FI setups together...

looking at a welder to use to attempt to build some headers just to mess around with (realquick, keep me on the list)
I was looking at this clarke
http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

thought it was a pretty good value considering its everything but the gas tank

just wondering if you think that would be okay for welding stuff up?

Wow, they bend you guys over in Missouri!! I bought mine for $469 ~1.5 years ago. I go to lowes up here in MA about once a week and the price has been rock solid at ~450ish.

I think the clark or the Licoln 125 will be fine. Licoln has a beter name... but you need to see what comes with the kit for the money compared to the Clarke.

the regulator is $50.
Or got $366, i can get one with the cart, and regulator. I already have an auto darkening helmet

$366 setup:

$275 setup
http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/we...ot/WE6523.html
regulator
http://store.weldingdepot.com/cgi/we...ot/WE6540.html

then i could just go down to my local linweld and get an argon tank, correct?

now, has anybody ordered from weldingdepot.com?

IMO, the cart is worth every penny. You can get the tank at any local welding supply store.

not to step on anybodys work, but headers tubes and stuff like that, that are wire feed together really look bad.
even worse if you use a flex core wire it will really look like a hack job.
i still even have an old flex core welder and it has it uses, but building turbo hot parts it not one of them.

Adam, go to Habor freight and get on of these -

http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91811

then run get a bottle, and a box of red tip tungson. it will be about the same as the price of that little wire feed.

this little welder will make some very nice welds, and if you can learn to weld thin stuff with this little scratch start tig you'll be killer on a nicer machine.
