Those with Ultra lite or Carbon fiber gages, please help me decide.

I think I have narrowed it down to the Ultra lites or the Carbon fiber series boost and fuel psi gages. They will be on a dual gage pod on the a pillar.

I have seen Ultra lite and like them but they will kind of stick out being the only white in the car. They are also easy to read.

I like the new look of the Carbon fiber and it would compliment my interior more but I haven't seen any so I don't know how easy they are to see.

I want function to come first. Are the Carbons easy to read at a glance? How many of you actually monitor these gages going down the track? How do each look at night?

Also, is a mechanical boost gage easy to hook up with the bulkier tubing?

I know I have a lot of questions but don't want to make a 300 dollar investment if I won't be satisfied.

Thanks guys.

Ultra lights...

I do not like the look of the carbon fiber gauges at all. The ultra lights are a silver, phantom series is white..

Mechanical Fuel preassure gauge WILL NOT fit flush into the A Pillar gauge pod because of all of the BS behind it. You need to use an electrical gauge. Autometer has a nice kit that runs about $200. Autometer part number is 4361.

I like the cobalts, now only if autometer made a 3 guage pod for hard tops.

I had already planned on an electric fuel psi gage. I was curious about the mech. boost gage.

Well, if you use a mechanical fuel preassure gauge, you have to first run a line from your fuel system to a fuel preassure isolator. This is a device that sends a fluid (anti freeze and water) to your preassure gauge so you don't have a fuel line running inside your interior. Behind the gauge you need an elbow and -4 AN hose from your fuel preassure isolator. Because all of this crap needs to be behind the gauge, the gauge will not fit flush into the pod on the A column. In an electrical gauge, all you have is thin wires going to the back of the gauge so everything fits flush. I learned all of this the hard and expensive way.

i have both electric fuel pressure and mechanical boosts gauge in the phantom (white). the boost gauge will hook up to a manifold vaccuum line. just use a "T" to hook it up. as far as the fuel pressure gauge, i tied into the fuel rail schraeder (-2 for spelling) valve. remove the valve and run some Earl's fittings to the sending unit. you will need to go from pipe thread to -4an so you'll have to purchace a couple of fittings. make sure to put a thead sealer on the pipe threads because the fittings WILL leak if you don't.

I hope this helps.
