Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
I have a blown 383 and was curious if there is an intake that would benefit me more than the gasket matched LT4 I have now on lt4 heads
Re: Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
Some may disagree but I think the LT4 intake flows enough that you'll probably destroy your block before having a real restriction. The only choices are custom fab or a single plane carb intake with alot of install issues. I'd worry more about getting the air out of the motor than in.
Re: Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
Wicked I have a Very similiar setup to you and i had a Converted Super Vic with a 90mm TB and I ended up selling it to get some of my money back, Plus a Fully ported LT4 intake with a Monoblade. It will cost around 1600 or so to get everything and to have done, that's how much it cost me anyways. There is a Guy on this board who gained like 70RWHP with a Single plain over his LT1 intake using ported LT1 heads and a F1 charger.
How ported is your LT4 intake, is it just gasket ported, or does if have runner port work, etc. BTW get rid of that p1SC so you can see 650+, later man

Re: Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
The intake is gasket matched as well as worked runners. I wish I would ahve gotten the D1 but Ill make this do for now. I made 560 at only 8 lbs so I have some working room. THanks

Say wicked what is the dual belt mod and where do you get it. I am assuming the single belt slips on the charger and you can put a dual belt on to help prevent it. thanks

The LT1 prochargers wont slip if you have them adjusted right I dont think, after all they are 12 rib
Re: Is there an intake that would benefit me better than LT4
Wicked, I don't figure there would be slip with a 12 rib setup, but I think I am going to get the SDCE 8 rib tensioner setup, also, what Crank balancers are you running, both ATI units or stock and a ATI unit????

I have thought about something for a long time, and Since there is no background information (that I can find anyways) we really have no idea on how this particular intake would work with a procharger setup while using some nice heads on a LT1 car.
But check this link, also use my name and search for Superram intake, lots of info on it back when I was looking into it.

BTW the heads were out of the Box AFR's (flow around 230-240 from what I hear
and they used a small HR cam 212/218 below .500 lift.) Think what it would have done on a 383 or 396 with some ported AFR heads (290CFM plus) and a custom size 232/240 or comparable cam
.
Basically its a Long runner TPI intake made for the LT1, Generates around 50-60RWTQ and about 20-30RWHp over the LT1 intake throughout the whole RPM range. The only downside to this intake is it usually runs out of Breath around 6000 RPM. But wait, everytime they modded this motor the RPM range extended even more. I beg to say a Ported Superram, Ported AFR or comparable heads, and a Nice size cam could yeild 6500 RPM's if needed.
But I know a lot of Blower guys who tend to only rev to around 6000 RPM so this would make a Perfect intake. The only downside is that your paying around 1,500 from ligenfelter thats Everything, base plate, fuel rails, runners, plenum box, 58mm TB, gaskets, etc. I see them go on Ebay every know and then for the Lt1 cars (pretty rare, ligenfelter just started marketing them again about 1 year ago).
I dunno know about you but somebody that makes about 60lbs of TQ and 25hp MORE throughout the Entire RPM is going to be a hella of a lot quicker than the guy with the LT1 intake.
