T-trim versus T-76

I was thinking about twin turbo's, but packaging seems difficult, so I started entertaining a single. It occured to me that the most common single turbo V-8 uses a T-76 and they seem to be in the 700+ rwhp range. Checked out the compressor maps of the T versus the 76 here:

http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/...-trim_map.html

http://www.forcedinductions.com/help.htm

and found something interesting. There isn't much difference between the two. At a typical boosted V-8 2/1 Pr (~15 psi) and 70 lb/min (550 gm/sec), the T is 71% eff versus the T-76 at 72%. Move out to 80 lb/min (630 gm/sec) at 15 psi, and the T is 70% versus the T-76 at under 65%. So, at higher flow rates (hp), the T is actually more efficient than the T-76.

Close examination of the T-trim compressor map reveals that it can build ~20 psi boost if spun to 50,000 rpm (max efficient speed) while flowing 550 gm/sec. Does anyone go this route and actually get 20 psi from a T-trim and make 700 rwhp?

only experience with a T trim is on a mildly built 302, he put down 630ish on 14psi.

id honestly go with a turbo setup, it takes almost 100hp to spin the T trim for ~10# (varies car to car)

I'm not knocking the T-trim, heck I have one lol, but the turbo will probably make you happier since it can build boost off of the line and will get to peak boost much quicker. Remember, area under the curve means a lot, but I'm sure you know that.

True, but with the 4000 stall converter, I'm making 10 - 13 psi at all times.

Out of curiosity, what are peak and shift rpms with that cam?

Peak hp is at 6500 rpm according to Thunder Racing's Dynojet. I shift at about that also.
