Supra's never cease to amaze me. . .
This is the slowest bunch of over-powered dyno-queens I've ever seen. . .
http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/view..._93-98~~~.html
How do you run 10.7 with 934 rwhp??? Or 11.30 with 808 rwhp??? 11.9 with 660 rwhp??? 11.6 with 744 rwhp???
I couldn't find one car on the page that runs what it ought to for the power. . .

Re: Supra's never cease to amaze me. . .
supras are not the quickest out of the bunch, but remember, they are IRS and have more trouble than us solid axle guys hooking up.
one thing i can tell you though is supras run really good on the freeway!

supra dyno graph
_____/|
lmao
its NOT because of the IRS......vettes and mustangs have IRS too and hook great. if they dont pick the right tires and shocks/springs, thats their own fault, cant blame the car.
alot of supra owners have very poor turbo selection, they pick a unit WAY too big, and get a big peak number, but poor power under the curve. thats why they race dynos and not at the track.
example, they have like a 9k rpm band.........make 300hp to 6k rpm, then it suddenly peaks straight up to 700hp from 7k-9k.
also, their torque curve usually looks just as bad as their hp. they dont have the torque to get the car off the line or down the first half of the track, but their HP peak works its *** off in the last half of the track, so they end up with slow time, high mph.
once in awhile, you find a supra owner (like jose on this board) who did his homework and has a properly sized turbo, makes awesome power under the curve, and runs appropriate numbers, but its rare. trust me, i have gone to 5-6 supra dyno meets and seen over 30 of them dyno in a row. (and yes, they really do sit around racing their dyno graphs with each other)

Re: Supra's never cease to amaze me. . .
If you look closely there are a few that really seem to hit the mark, but those are 9 and 10sec cars with the same hp as some of the others running 11's and 12's.
I've got an IRS in my vette and I still managed to pull a 1.7X 60' on my street tires.
I think its the large turbine housings that they put on the supras. It takes forever to get the things spooled. Before then you're still running off of a 3.0L engine, that's less hp than the V6 Camaros.

man........yea supra's are nice but if you want to make a drag car out of it.it a ford 9 inch in the back and hop the motor up to about 900 H.P....i will put any kind of money that they will brake in to the 8 sec rang..but the damn thing is that they are sooooo freakin heavy......

I could only run low boost 25psi due to some other issues and had a screwed up Th400 in it, but I still ran a 9.90 @136mph. If you watch the video, you'll hear the tranny slipping like crazy on the top end. This next season I should be in the 8's with some of the changes we've made.

Nawww...I watch a lot of racing and that stuff isn't really done except for outlaw type racing (low 7's and quicker) and on up. 8.8's is fast, but it's not deserving of a Mike Moran burnout. lol
