Supercharger questions
So i am kicking around the idea of putting a supercharger on my car this summer, since i will have extra money from work and not having tuition to pay for. I have talked with a few people and decided to go with the ATI Procharger, but that is about it. I know i am going to have to change out internals to accomodate for the extra stress that will be put on the engine, but i do not know which ones, or what types to be looking for. I am assuming that i will have to do pistons and a cam kit. could anyone give me a quick rundown of what all i will be looking at here? maybe point me to a website that has a full kit or something? i am looking to run 8 psi or less nothign major, just enough so i can hear the whine of the blower. thanks in advance
Re: Supercharger questions
I have a 94 25th TA and put a p1sc on it. I ran mine for 5yrs with the stock motor and 8psi till the motor started to loose some compression. If you are only running a low boost level then get some trick flow lt1 heads and leave it at that. That will lover your compression enough to not hurt anything for a long while. If you are going to go into the bottom end or use more boost then forged bottom end and good rings. Eagle and Scat both make kits for this at a reasonable cost.
Good luck

Re: Supercharger questions
I woudl feel a little worried about doing it on a stock motor, but i am glad to hear that yours was jsut fine with it. i shall look up those kits, thanks for the advice, anyone else have an opinion to offer me?
Re: Supercharger questions
Forged bottom end - rods, crank, pistons (lower CR)
Stock heads - depending on how radical you want to get, you can LE port or leave stock with good valvetrain and clean them up.
SC cam - I run a GTP4 grind
Changing the heads to TFS will not change the fact that you WILL bust ring lands and possibly do more damage - which could then take out the heads.
My setup? Stock 125k shortblock with the GTP4 cam, stock untouched heads + bolt-ons + 7psi boost= 437.1hp/475tq last year

Re: Supercharger questions
I like hearing mine.
Like Medic, I run mine on a stock longblock with no mods except bolt-ons. Been running about 2 years with no problems at 8.5-9lbs.
You don't "have" to build it for that boost level, but it sure adds some insurance to your engine's durability.
