Supercharger dampner???

http://www.atiperformanceproducts.co...s/damsuper.htm

Would this work on a 383 with either a D1SC or a F1A? Anyone have any experience with this product. It looks like a quality piece.

If that won't work, what should I be looking for, for maximum protection. I've read that dual keyed are recommended with supercharged applications.

LT1 POWR,

I can't comment on aftermarket dampers, but you can indeed get a keyed crank hub (single or dual) that your stock balancer will bolt up to.

I'll let other speak towards needing an aftermarket damper. I would think that the stocker would be good for 6500rpm though

If you do go the stock balancer/keyed hub route, you can contact ASP racing. I bought a new, fully machined single key hub from them for ~$65.

App... 97ss 383 - D1 - M6. My pulley ratio is 12rib 7.6" --> 3.4", and allows the D1 to spin the impellar @ 65000rpm @ 6800 crank rpm. I run a single key on a callies crank, so, I purchased a nice piece (Pioneer Mfg.) from Thunder racing (I think Jegs also has them). The Pioneer fits good due to the design (much better than the stock cast LT1 hub). The choice of dampner required me to research the dimension "stack-up" of supentine acc drive pulley/ Jegs LT1 Powerbond dampner - neutral balance / ATI 7.6"pd 12 rib pulley. I also machined an aluminum mount for the 7.6" pulley.

Hard to say if the that dampner will place the belt in alignment of the blower driven pulley. Without a dimension-detail of the piece to measure the stack-up, alignment it is difficult to predict fit. ATI is a nice piece. I would ask for additional dimension details on their part, or, maybe you could return it if it will not work. From my experience, the blower drive belt must run in line to @ maximum 0.050" pulley offset misalignment. Angular alignment is also important for belt trac. Easy to measure with a long straight edge and feeler gage. Hope this helps. B.

If you are going F1A I would go with the ATI's big block hub, and their 917271 damper. The hub will require some machining on the timing cover, and keying the crankshaft.

but the big question would be if the single piece that includes the supercharger pulley works also.
