Supercharger

What is the cheapest way to get a used supercharger.
Can you get on out of a wrecked car or something like that. I need a powerful used one for cheap.

Re: Supercharger

eBay is your friend. Also, powerful and cheap don't go together for long. Especially when you're talking about a blown LT1.

Re: Supercharger

Re: Supercharger

I ebay'd mine and have been very happy with it.

You're not going to find a wrecked car with a factory supercharger that will just bolt up. You can make make one work, but by the time you fab'd it up, it would probably be cheaper to buy a used centrifugal.

Re: Supercharger

How much does a used supercharger run fo? How many psi does they put out?
I want a top mount s/c because they produce more power.

Re: Supercharger

I think you'll find that most of the centrifugals can put out more hp and boost than anything you'll find on a junkyard GM.

You mentioned "cheap". What exactly is your budget? One thing I've found about forced induction - even buying the major components used - it's still not cheap.

Re: Supercharger

^^^^ So true, I parked my car in the shop to put a new fuel pump in it and while I had the car apart a friend of mine cracked a piston in his supercharged engine, I bought the Vortech T-trim from him cheap (2000.00). I thought I'd get some boost cheap. As it turns out it takes a lot to run a descent amount of boost and keep the engine together so now a 150.00 fuel pump install has snowballed into an 8000.00 project and I still need another 500.00 to 1000.00 to get everything like I want it.

Re: Supercharger

I am in the same boat. I bought a Vortech off of ebay and installed it. Car ran awesome for 2 months and then I blew the head gasket. I decided to just rebuilld the motor and it went from a basic rebuild with forged pistons to a complete list of everything new. 14g's and still climbing. Started out as a $1500 supecharger on ebay.

Where did that come from?

I've been working on my 383 for like 2 years now. It's so freakin close to being done that i just about can't stand it. I don't know how many times I've changed my mind about what I was going to do either. Oh well.
