Supercharged Engine Life

I Was Wondering How Long Your Engines Are Lasting When You Guys Are Running Above 10 Psi And What Kind Of Rwhp You Guys Are Putting Down? Also How Much Money You Guys Got Tied Up In Them? Thanks For Your Time.

too many variables for a quantifyable answer

Mine has lasted 30,000 miles so far. Goal is 100,000 miles. I have about 8,000 invested in my engine, blower, exhaust, and supporting mods. I was very frugal with my setup though. Used blower and budget shortblock rebuild.

About $10k in motor here, never on a dyno, should be around 550-600 rwhp. 14psi, lasted 7k miles. Only broke an oil pump driveshaft, the rest of the motor looked perfectly fine. As long as you're easy on the throttle (which I certainly am not) you won't be creating a lot of boost during normal driving, and it should last a long time.

Makes me glad my engine designer mentioned I should use a steel pump shaft, among much other top shelf advice. About 2K miles on mine and it's roughly a $10K build too ....fingers crossed, so far so good.

As stated before there are a lot of variables here, which will make your answer a "guesstimate" at best.

If you figure a fully forged and properly built 383 with 15#'s of boost and around 600 RWHP. As long as everything is cared for, and maintained properly, it should be able to see 100,000 miles I would think.

BTW, I personally have over $60,000 in my Z. I just spend about $17,000 this year alone having my 383 rebuilt for the blower, and then everything else (blower, FMIC, tune, fuel system, ect.). The cheapest way you will get a strong blower application, will probably be $12,000 or so. More, if you want the good parts like I went with.

LOL, btw, did we mention it can get to be ummmm.... extremely expensive? Some days I wish I had just waited and bought a used Viper or C5 and put on a 125-shot ... then call it a day, wouldn't have cost any more. Then again, neither one would run as good as mine without the laughing gas, and I like having power on tap at all times under foot.
