Supercharged 383 Stroker
Supercharged 383 Stroker
So i'm looking into a 383 stroker with a supercharger and some happy gas injection. Any suggestions on what i should be looking to put into my LT1 to make this happen. I'm shooting for about 500rwhp without the nitrous. Obviously forged internals and an ignition upgrade, but what else should i be looking into for my transformation this winter. Thanks in advance
Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
either a stall and shift kit or a clutch depending on your tranny.you'll need larger injectors, gauges, plus all the other basic mods you'd do if it were a 383 along,ie exhaust, intake, heads cam etc
Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
I've got the exhaust system planned out...going with Hooker Long Tube Headers, with an electronic cut out, Hooker off road Y pipe and i have SLP Loudmouth exhaust, i know it's going to be loud
What kind of heads should i use, i'm thinking going with a set from AFR. Any suggestions?

Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
The AFR's have the advantage of a thicker deck, but if the 1000 rwhp guy didn't have head gasket problems at 22 psi, then I don't see where that's a problem.
Also, the AFR's have more porting potential (maybe 310 cfm) due to thicker walls, but again, the stockers have been ported to 290 cfm successfully.

Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
and to maximize the potential for a 383 he's going to want heads that would flow as much as possible for the money.ive seen AFR heads ported and flowed lot more that 310.And in case no ones noticed theres only a handful of people that CAN make 1000rwhp with stock heads and no gasket problems, the rest have problems anywhere from 10-15psi with lifting the heads, that why the thicker deck is beneficial, and ill say it again,IF he can afford it.Why be cheap if you plan on more power later?thats just my $.02,take it as you will.

My goal is to have 500rwhp, once i reach that goal where i go from there is up in the air. But my first step is the 500rwhp, i'd still like to be able to "cruise" this car a little bit, and have fun around town as well as at the track. Should i go with copper head gaskets with this kind of set up? Thanks for all your help guys
Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
500rwhp wont be hard to reach with a blown 383.for a decent port job of your stock heads look to spend about a grand.at that power level you dont need copper gaskets,GM MLS will work fine, some even use just a stock 6.0 ltr gasket for example.just start calling or emailing sponsors and see what they'll do for you.
Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
Hell if all your wanting is 500rw, you can acheive that with stock displacement, p600b or s-trim, your basic boltons+cam and and with about 10-13psi.You should be just about there. Oh yea, its also been done with stock heads too.
Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
ddnspider, he's talking an LT1, not an LS1. Either way, ported stockers will be fine, and really, 500rwhp shouldn't be a problem in the least with a 383. You could probably even get that without porting the heads and just getting a good valve job, especially if intercooled.

Re: Supercharged 383 Stroker
I do agree on the stock heads, however last I checked there is no GM MLS gaskets, 6.0 heads/gaskets, or ALL PRO heads for LT1's, only LS1's. I was just making sure there was no confusion.
