Suggestions regarding turbo sizing......

Hey guys....

I have some ideas swirling through my head right now regarding a turbo setup on my 95' MarkVIII.

I was HOPING you guys would be able to point me in the right direction regarding the type, and size of the turbo I would need to support 500 Crank HP, "everyday" driveability, and decent mileage. I would also like to keep lag to a minimum, but realize it can sometimes be a nescisary evil.

I was looking at going with a rear mounted turbo similar to the STS system, but would be doing all of the fabrication work myself. I have a forged long block sitting in the garage that I was gonna S/C, but this would be a little more original.

Anyway, what would you guys recommend for a 4.6 Liter Quad cam, that spins NO more than 7,000 Rpm? Cost is an issue, but I would entertain all sugesstions.

Thanks......Mike

I dont know anything about your motor...but displacement wise, a t60 would probably work nice (same turbo that comes standard in the sts fbody kit)...

This is the exact same engine that isin the 96-98 Cobras. I have the intake from a 98 and the heads from a 97.

The only thing different is the type of body it's in. T60......What company is this produced by?

If this is the same enigne thats in the cobras, then perhaps something a little bigger will be better. A t60 is just short term for a 60mm turbo. Precision, garrett, Turbonetics all should carry some version of a T60...

Me personally, I would keep the stock cams, and get a Kenne Bell blower to put on that thing. The low end torque will make your Mark VIII fun as hell to drive, and should make your 500 at the tires! Part throttle driveablilty will be like stock with power on demand!

Thanks guys...

The problem with a kenne bell blower is.... The kit they make for the B-Heads does'nt include an intercooler. To get that I would have to upgrade to the 03-04 "terminator" heads.

Lag is'nt really a problem for me due to the 4.10's in the back. I'm just looking at going the "original" routh on this project.

I'll start looking at 60MM turbos. Thanks guys.
