I have a ls1 head and cam car that I would like to put a turbo on. Has anyone tried this setup on a h/c car? Any suggestions? Please keep this civil. I really need some help with this. Thanks
Well I'm on for a pre Turbo Dyno session thursday morning. The STS Dyno will be installed on Sat. I don't have my HP Tuner VCM Suite yet, its supposed to be shipped. As soon as its here I'll go do some dyno tuning. Stay tuned and make your own decision. I'll post all results including time at the track.

Sure it would work, but cam choice might not be the best if originally choosen for NA. Post specs, overlap is uaually a little high. Try a search on turbo cam.
Worked on some tuning and our LS1 should be on the dyno tom, will post results.

I had a feeling my cam might be a problem. It's a comp .569/.572 lift 224/228 duration and 112 lsa. I hate to pay for the labor to switch cams again but how bad will that lsa effect it. If I decide to change it for the turbo what should I go with. Thanks
Dynoed today on a Dynojet.
Here are the results.
Uncorrected
305.6 RWHP 324.9 RWTQ
Corrected
298.1 RWHP 317.0 RWTQ
AFR 11.33, a little on the rich side but not uncommon for a factory tune.
Sat. morning is the STS install.

Are there any problems with the car causing it to run that rich, or do all the 02s seem to run that rich.
I don't know what kind of numbers you're talking about. A stock
WS6 LS1 is Factory advertised at 325 H.P. ( not rear wheel) and we know that these motors were likely in the 345 H.P. range.
Taking transmission and rear end losses into consideration, prob.
in the 11% to 12% the 300 RWHP is pretty accurate. Don't forget
this is the Internet and H.P. numbers are like fishing stories.
I could quite easily have lied and said it makes 590 H.P. would you have believed that? Anyways with a little tuning and improving the AFR numbers there's prob. another 10 H.P. somwhere.
My point was to establish a baseline H.P. prior to a Turbo install.

Said OVER and OVER...A DYNO is primarily for dyno tuning cars OR having a starting point and adding mods here and there to see how much HP you have gained..As long as you stay consistent(same dyno,etc..) its ok. Numbers are just numbers!

At first I thought those were with the STS as the title would imply. LOL, but nothing wrong with those numbers for a stock motor + there being more in it with a tune, considering that is ~55 more hp than my 95 put down with a catback and CAI. Looking forward to seeing what kind of numbers you put down with the turbo.

how can 300hp to the tires be bad lol you got to be kidding from a stock ls1? speaking of bad hp at the tires..i dont mean to bring this up but werent mustang cobras with the dohc engine puttin down like 240 hp to the tires.they were rated at 305 to 315hp at the motor......and there was a big uproar from ford owners just a few yrs back? i dont mean to flame but...heh
