Straight Pipes and turbos

Im wondering does everybody run straight pipes when they put a turbo on. Does anybody run a muffler or anything. Just wondering. Im thinking about putting a kit on my car and just wondered. I know the sts runs straights.

I have a single turbo set up with the adjustable 3" Borla set up that you can either run through the muffler, strait through with no muffler or a combo of both. I found that with my particular set up running straight pipes seemed to improve the performance of the turbo....just my $.02 cents.

I would not say that everybody runs straight pipes. There are quite a few people here and other boards that run turbos with mufflers. Turbos do however quiet the sound of a car. Often on some cars to the point where you don't need a muffler. Also turbos benefit from a very free flowing exhaust. More so than other types of combinations. Some want the least restriction possible, and even though there are straight threw mufflers, you often don't need one because of the muffling effect a turbo has. Plus some people still like to here their cars.

As far as STS cars, .... the turbo is already in the spot where the muffler goes. I imagine you could fit some kind of muffler there, but to many that is probably pointless. You would basically have you muffler as your tailpipe, depending on what you use.

I don't have a muffler on my car right now. Downpipes dump right @ the front wheels. It's not too bad...the exhaust wheel does a good job of knocking down the exhaust tone.

I may end up putting a small muffler on each downpipe down the road. I can get mini's (3.5" diameter, 6"-12" long, 3" inlets) from Schoenfeld for $22
