Re: Big Show Coming Up Sat Jan 8th On Sts Turbos

Just an FYI, I'd rather trust the magazine reviews of the STS system. I am not a fan of 2 guys garage, and more then that, their application will be on a truck. Trucks have different loads and requirements, and its performance will not reflect that of a car.

On that note, there's a guy on the forums that has a STS Silverado that's stupid fast.

But to the point, I would take the show with a grain of salt. I wouldnt place all your thoughts on there, as most likely it wont have as much in depth detail as currently exists on the forums. Do a search here - there is 10x the information on the setup here compared to what they can shove into a standard TV show. A lot of guys here know a LOT more then the guys on that show

Re: Big Show Coming Up Sat Jan 8th On Sts Turbos

True but there going to be putting this system on a camaro ls1 and silverado pickup truck. There going to dyno it stock and with the system from my point. I really would like to see if this system says its to be. Numbers are just to high on low boost on this system. I talked to a guy at a performance shop he told me that theres not enough air to spool a tubo. He told me to put my hand over the exhuast pipe. DOES THE AIR PUSH YOUR HAND OFF THE PIPE?? How possibly can it spool a turbo to see those numbers then?? Then again many people love the system. I think the show will give me a better direction on where I want to go with my set-up. It's defently force -induction but turbo or supercharger is still undecided. I kind of like that rear mounted turbo. It's easy to install/take off - it's not taking up anymore engine space. All the 93-02 camaro/firebird owners know space is limited under the hood -engine bay. I think IMO this system can throw down some serious horsepower. On Sat. Jan 8th on the speedchannel at 7:30est -- We will see what the dyno throws down

Dont go by dyno numbers alone. A good dyno operator can make the dyno read whatever he wants it to read. Also dont know if the car will be auto or manual, as that will make a difference between the before and after.

STS certainly can spool the turbo, that's obvious... If your guys doesnt know how it'd work and doesnt think it'd work, I dont know if I'd trust his opinion on forced induction systems. It certainly works, but it's the most efficient setup ever. Oh well, it still puts down power.

STS works. It isnt hard to install. It's not too expensive. For a street car, it's a wonderful thing. I'll probably tune in, and you can bet someone will make a thread on here after the show. And it'll turn into a flame war too. I'll bet $20 on it.

Sadly, you are right about the flame war. Being a dealer, I have seen many STS systems dyno and it will show good numbers. As soon as Ennis opens back up here in Tx., I should have an STS car in the 10's. I know that wont stop the haters, but thats okay. I'm sure after that people will say it should run 9's

Thats the gayest excuse I've ever herd. You put your hand over and exhaust system that has two paths for the exhaust to flow and of course your not going to blow your hand off, it will just go thru the other side. Now cap off both ends and I GAURANTEE it will blow your hands off especially when you start reving it, or brake stall it (automatic tranny)
what goes in has to come out, right If your annalogy holds true, how would a turbo work bolted up close to an engine, the exhaust doesn't majically dissapear on its way out the back of the car. It may cool some and loose a little volume, but thats it. Also think about how much air the engine is inhaling at idle, not very much, obviously why the sts (or any turbo) doesn't make boost at idle.

Re: Big Show Coming Up Sat Jan 8th On Sts Turbos

I hope the show turns out great but I agree with Geoff, don't let the show determine you choice. There is more than enough real data out there to help you make a correct choice. Considering it's in TV land you never know what kind of claims may be made.

I agree that the load is going to make a difference but I have also ridden in 2 other STS cars. One with a base kit and another with a GT70 and at 5psi his car was MUCH much faster than my truck. Lag actually wasn't too bad either but that pull was insane! I just think that you need to keep a nice high gear set to create more load and get a stall if you have an auto.

Thx for the props Geoff. My truck is a Sierra btw.

Billy, hurry and get those cars up and running PLEASE?? With you, Jesse, and Rick (Synergy) finishing these STS cars and getting soem track #s I think we can at least appease some of the critics. Not all though because some of their complaints are valid IMO.

That was a funny looking Silverado

Those guys don't know crap! There were several things they said that didn't make any sence.

269 rwhp on a LS1 SS? That seems a bit low to me. It was a pretty cool show though.

Show was alright I wish they took the car for a drive inside of installing and dyno the system. System seems like a awesome set-up I just wish I never bought my exhuast system, headers, stuff like that. That system will work just as good as regular stock manifolds. I just cannot wait till this summer till my 94 camaro has one. I plan to see bigger numbers 500-600rwhp range - Mike

Correct me if I'm wrong but I've been told that the STS kits will work with headers.

Yes, an LT1 with headers would require the LS1 kit. Mustang dynos tend to show slightly lower numbers which would account for the low stock #s. I was waiting for the 7psi with meth #s.
