Stock Motor=Worth It?

Think of putting a Vortech on a stock 60,000 mile motor looking to get approx. 350 rwhp. Is it worth the 4K. If so how hard to put on myself. I'm looking for emission legal best bang for the buck, least amount of down time etc.

350rwhp is MUCH more easily and cheaply attained with heads/cam, or even a shot of nitrous if thats all you're looking to put down to the ground.

If you really want to keep it stockish, nitrous is awesome. Been there several times. Do what you think you will enjoy. Everything has its drawbacks.

If you want the whine of a supercharger, go for it.

Some have laughed at me for only shooting for 500-600 with a turbo setup. Its what I want.

Yeah.. You'll make more then 350RW w/ a Vortech..

If you're bent on a S/c, Go for it.. It all depends on your long term plans too..

Also, look for a used one. They are not as common as the ls1 setups, but used ones go for cheap.

Grab one for $1k, find a bracket and go.

There is NO WAY I would try to piece one of those kits together. . . . and that's coming from a guy that built his own turbo kit. Take a look at the bill of materials on Vortech's site. There are ALOT of pieces.

There is almost always a used kit for sale on this forum or E-bay, I just sold my complete kit for $2000.
