Thumbs up Some Supercharging Questions

Hey guys,

I am thinking about supercharging the car instead of staying with nitrous. I like the idea of power there all the time, plus I figure after filling up my bottle all the time I would have spent what a supercharger costs anyway. And it's not too late for me to change directions with my 355.

I am looking to do a 355 with a Vortech S-trim. I would run it without the aftercooler at first and keep it to 9psi or less, then when I could afford it, get the aftercooler and go for around 12psi.

I have a fuel and igntion systems that can cover the the power I would make, so you don't need to warn me about that.

I have a couple questions.

1. The number one quesion I have is can I still have a decent street car with a supercharger? The car isn't by any means a daily driver, but I still like to drive it as much as possible during the summer. The car isn't gonna be seeing any bumper to bumper traffic in 90 summer heat or anything, but I still want to be able to drive it on the weekends and go out cruising and *cough* racing at night.

2. Is 9:1 compression good, or should I go a little lower?

3. On 6-9 psi would 42 lb injectors be fine? I wouldn't even bother with the FMU.

4. If I run the car a little fat and keep the timing conservative would 9 psi without an aftercooler be safe with 93 octane? (I don't do a lot of daytime driving in the summer, and I sure as hell stay out of the gas when it's hot out, so I should avoid a lot of higher temps where detonation could occur)

5. What should I look for in a cam? I know I want a higher LSA, but I haven't dealt a lot with supercharger cams, so I don't know what else to look for. Plus I know there are a lot of other things that go into making a good cam when it comes to any application. I would like to shift between 6500-6800, no more.

6. Would my 3200 Vigilante be good, or should I go bigger?

7. As far as the engine goes, would low compression SRP Pistons, Eagle H-Beam Rods, and Forged 3.48" Crank hold up pretty well? (if you have any suggestions for a good forged 3.48" crank that is decently priced, let me know...I'm still looking)

Thanks for any help, and if there is any other info you can give me, let me know.

Thanks,
Eric

Yes...Darkblue T/A has had no problems and that thing runs strong and will still knock down almost 30 mpg on the hwy.

Not to bad of a comp ratio, most blower cars are a little lower, generally in the range of 8.0 - 8.6, but you shouldn't have any problems, especially intercooled.

I know darkblue is running an FMU on stock injectors in that boost range, no problems at all (cept in cold weather cause of the ATI highflow Air-2-Airs) all of which on stock programing. So...take that for what its worth.

Other things...might wanna get a little bit more knowledgeable person on...Have you considered an ATI?? About the same price as a Vortech and you wouldn't have to plum oil lines you get the high flow A-2-As as part of the package, and all I can say is daaaaaaaaamn. Good luck with it dude.
