ok so it looks like i came up with4.30 x .0050 = 0.0215 that sound right for the top ring? what about the second ring? the same? kb says that the second rings dont need as much extra clearance... http://www.kb-silvolite.com/article....n=read&A_id=32 thanks guys.

4.030" x 0.005 = 0.020" (not 4.30" bore)

Second ring should be run with more clearance. Here is some reference info.

At 6psi run the tighter recommendation. At ~15+ or race motor run the looser recommended. I think that would be safe.

ok i talked to the kp tech guy and he says .020 top ring and .016 second ring do to the piston disign. seems tight for the second ring right i mean i think the chilton says .018 min.

I think thats too tight, especially for boost, even though your only running 6psi. I'd run them bigger then that, and would probably recommend planning ahead and going even bigger. Think Boosted is right also about the bigger 2nd ring gap. I probably wouldn't go any smaller then .020 top .022 2nd. Probably slightly bigger. Hopefully more will chime in here. I think i set mine up to .028/.029.

Old school always said run a tighter bottom to help trap anything that gets past the first. Practice and testing has shown more power and better results with a tighter top ring. I'm sure theres plenty of info if you want to search.

But yes go a little on the loose side. I am @ .035 on a 650ish hp motor.

Old school may not be taking in to account forced induction. With forced you don't want pressure left in the middle to cause ring bind.
